    Introduction

Nutritional Healing is all about how dieting works to help heal the ills of the body. In truth, we are what we eat. If we do not feed ourselves a healthy diet, we will eventually succumb to the pitfalls of eating a junk food diet. Eating unhealthy may not affect the health immediately. In fact, and unhealthy diet may be eaten for years without any noticeable issues. However, it will catch up; the junk food does not give the body the nutrients it needs to build a strong immune system in order to stop illnesses from taking hold.

The body derives nutrients from the foods we eat. These nutrients go to work in our body to build a strong immune system and help the body to behave and perform at optimum levels. Without these nutrients, the body will start to atrophy. It will pull these nutrients back from the body, leaching the body of the nutrients. The result is a deficiency in these nutrients, which causes a host of health conditions. Ironically, many of the issues that come from a nutrient deficient will go away if the body is fed the right nutrients.

You can take supplements to help replace these nutrients, and supplements are great. But if you continue to eat a junk food diet and just take supplements, the body will still suffer. The biggest aliment a junk food diet causes, and no amount of supplements can stop, is obesity. Obesity sets in when the body is fed foods that simply turn to fat in the body, which is primarily what junk foods are made of.

Being overweight causes many bad health issues. This book addresses some of these bad health issues. Discover how eating certain foods can bring about the healing you may need. You can look at food as a preventative, treatment, and even as a cure in some cases, which is why this book is called Nutritional Healing.

Half of the book is devoted to weight loss and really even the DASH diet addressed one of the major concerns of obesity, hypertension. However, the bottom line is that if the weight is lost then the health conditions will improve. Many physicians will tell their patients who are overweight with health issues to try to lose the weight first and see if the issue will improve.

Conditions like joint and bone issues, hypertension, high cholesterol, to name a few, may be helped if a person loses the weight and maintains a normal and healthy weight level.

The first diet plans outlined in the book are for low fat and low carb diets. The low fat diet helps with weight loss by limiting the amount of fats within the diet. People lose weight by focusing on foods that contain little to no fats. This helps the body to melt the fat way and the weight falls off too. It is not a crash diet, so the results will be slow and steady.

The low carb diet section focuses on recipes that are naturally low in carbohydrates. It may seem a low carb diet is in direct opposition to the low fat diet, but the facts are low carb diets focus on eliminating and restricting the bad carbs in the diet and allowing for more of the good fats. A low fat diet intends to reduce the amount of all fat, while low carb diets work to allow more good fats. Carbohydrates turn to sugar in the body and this turns into fat. Bad carbohydrates are to be avoided in a low carb diet, while good carbs are allowed within limits.

The next section features muscle building and metabolism boosting recipes. If the metabolism is faster you will feel more like getting up and exercising. If you are exercising and eating right the result is weight loss. While you may lose fat weight, you will gain muscle weight if you are working out to build your muscles. Muscles actually weight more than fat. When doing this, do not just weigh yourself for proof the diet is working, measure your body. Take measurements before you start on the diet or exercise routine. Measure your neck, chest, biceps, waist, hips, thighs, and calves. Pay particular attention to the areas of the body that receives the work out and note muscle gains on there, which will show up as weight gain too.

Hypertension is a condition where the blood pressure elevates above that which is normal. Hypertension occurs for different reasons, it may be because of a healthy condition such as a kidney condition, or it may be because of excessive weight. If hypertension is left unchecked, it can result in cardiovascular disorders and even strokes. It is vital if a person receives a diagnosis of hypertension to do all they can to bring the level of the blood pressure back to normal.

Hypertension may be controlled through dieting. The DASH diet focuses specifically on recipes that fall within the guidelines of the DASH diet. It is through a lifestyle change that helps to control the blood pressure without medications. The hope is to lose weight and control the amount of fats and salt within the diet that the body will respond favorably and the blood pressure will regulate.

Adding exercise with the diets will help to gain the desired results faster, whether it be for lowering the blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, or just to lose weight and be healthier. Regular exercise helps to boost the metabolism as well. It works with the body in helping to break bad habits, lose weight, and treat and prevent many health conditions that occur due to a sedentary lifestyle.

A word of advice: Always seek the advice and counsel of your health care provider before starting any new diet or exercise routine. Clear any plan with them and make sure it will be agreeable with your current state of health. Your health care provider will be able to advise you on whether or not your body can handle these diets.

    Section 1: Dieting Cookbook

Is losing weight easy? Well, the answer to that question depends a lot on how you define the word ''easy.''

Many do want to take the easy way out and this is rarely a good idea.

If you are looking for a diet that can help you shed 15lbs in a month, there are no easy answers. Then again, that statement can be amended slightly. You can lose quite a lot of weight in a month if you take advantage of fad diets that entail starving yourself via calorie restriction. No one will deny those diets will help you lose weight. Granted, the weight you lose will be mostly water and muscle. Anyone looking to target fat will find these diets do not deliver on expectations.

There also is that nasty little thing about crash diets leading to binge eating. Of course, once you go on an over the top binge, you will find yourself gaining all that weight you tried to lose in the first place, plus more on top of it.

No, none of these dietary strategies is a good one and they do not contribute one iota to losing weight
