Homestyle Arab Recipes - Amina Suleiman

    Homestyle Arab Recipes

    وصفات عربية منزلية

    ––––––––

    Amina Suleiman

    Dedication

To all the cooks who made all the meals I’ve enjoyed through all the years through all the Arab world: the Arabian Peninsula, the Gulf, Levant and North Africa ... and shared their recipes with me.

    Introduction

    ––––––––

There is no one style of Arab food. Arabic fare is the cuisine of the Arabs, consisting of various regional specialties spanning the Arabian Peninsula, the Gulf, Levant, North Africa and Moorish Spain.

While different regions may have similarities, each regional cuisine reflects its own unique traditions, climates, crops and trading patterns. What may be common in one area may not be widespread in another. What may be prescribed by religion in one locale, may be permitted elsewhere.

    They are all delicious.

    Enjoy!

    MEZZE

    Meze - Wikipedia

Whatever you call them in any language – whether it be hors-d’oeuvres, tapas, canapes, entradas, zakuska or zensai – you probably already know what mezze is.

Mezze is a selection of small dishes served as appetizers. In countries where alcohol is haram (forbidden), mezze is served as part of multi-course meals. In countries where alcohol is part of the culture, mezze serve more as snacks while drinking or talking.
