    CHAPTER ONE – FINDING PEACE

    Hard times can mean many different things to various individuals. And it's never easy to deal with trying situations. But as the saying goes, you are made stronger by what doesn't break you. You develop your personal character every time you experience a tough time in your life. And it's this personality that will lead you to the happier times to come, and give you more strength for the next time you're having a difficult time in your life. During harsh times, character matters. You can form more logical thoughts when you are able to step back and look at a situation.  You'll know that what you feel is temporary. You'll feel a little better tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that. when you live another day, you become one day closer to a more positive and peaceful life and one day further from a painful past.

    When you suppress ego and impulses entirely and envision yourself as a peaceful person, a peaceful life is yours. If we look at our life as a series of experiences, as we go from one day to another, we will understand the importance of our thoughts and emotions. Every day is full of different encounters, some new and some familiar. We would be able to gain clarity and feel relaxed, regardless of the things that have been going around us, if we take a few minutes out every day to interact with ourselves and just be still. You are able to think clearly and control negative feelings much better than you do in a troubled state of mind when you are calm. In this way, wise decisions can also be taken in regard to various facets of life: relationships, finances (among others), due to a healthy and peaceful mind. In reality, having some calm and quiet time alone improves all aspects of the life of an individual. When one is focused, still and calm, because the mind develops the capacity to concentrate with devotion, one can give one's best to everything one undertakes.

    Reflect about it for some time and imagine yourself as a peaceful being if you want to feel peace. No matter how agitated or distracted you may be, you will be able to develop some calming thoughts naturally. Much like how we recharge after using our cell phones and other devices, our minds also need to be replenished to operate optimally. The more we do so often and on a daily basis, the greater the quality of life we achieve. Only after one begins to devote some time to seeking and restoring inner peace can one move on to a daily meditation practice that can open up a storehouse of positive thoughts for an individual.

    Your capacity to remain calm and relaxed is directly related to your level of self-love and acceptance in what feels like a hurtful or unpleasant situation. Imagine if you could feel so comfortable and in love with who you are, genuinely and at your heart, that your inner peace cannot be disrupted by anything and you no longer view negative events or circumstances as a representation of your own importance or self-worth. You’re like the rock in the middle of the storm, exuding nothing but peace and tranquility outwards to others, like ripples in a pond. Unflappable. Wrapped up in your own self-love. (De Jong, 2020)

    In the face of adversity and turmoil, learning to be calm and non-reactive is the greatest gift one can give to themselves and others. Instead of contributing to the drama, one will be able to disperse circumstances that are potentially difficult. When you're in the company of someone who feels very relaxed in their own skin, you can always tell so since they radiate a kind of peace and relaxation that is palpable and pleasant to be around.

    Happiness is sought for by every person. Nevertheless, there are very few people who find happiness effortlessly in life. It is very difficult to get satisfaction in life because people generally relate it to the things around them and the people around them. The simple truth is that happiness typically begins with your own life as well as ends with it. All those people who understand this reality, in their lives, easily get true happiness.

    In order to achieve happiness, you should always pay close attention to yourself. In contrast to oneself, you should not give importance to any other person in your life and also expect the same from that individual. It makes a person unhappy and satisfaction is lost by giving so much value to another and not getting something back
