About this ebook

There is God

Young people today are confronted with enormous pressure from their surroundings. Drug and alcohol abuse, homosexuality, the spirit of 'ubusangoma', crime and violence. Therefore, how can we as Christians have a positive influence on those around us?

We can influence them by the love of God and by telling them about the good news of salvation. We can tell them about their Creator who knows them better than anyone and loves them unconditionally. We must not let the world squeeze us into its mould, but rather we must stand for the truth which is found in the Word of God, the Bible. It's our time! It's our season, and it has happened that our time has collided with God's time. We were born for such a time as this; a time of the greatest revival ever!

Pauline Serite was born in South Africa, Gauteng Province. She studied at University of South Africa. She is married to Jack Serite and they are blessed with three beautiful children. They are church members of Revival Life Ministry(s). Her ministry includes preaching at tertiary institutions, high schools, and hospitals. She is also involved in out-reach programmes for lost souls, homeless and abandoned children.

    Acknowledgement

I would like to thank God, my Father for speaking to, and instructing me to write this book, as well as the Holy Spirit for guiding me through the process. Thanks to my brother, the Lord Jesus, for always being there for me, encouraging me to write, and ensuring that He will never leave me nor forsake me. I would also like to thank my spiritual father, Apostle Dr M.A. Simelane, for teaching us to hear the voice of God; and for obeying the voice of God when it thundered through his ears saying, GO DEMONSTRATE MY POWER AND MAKE MY VOICE HEARD. I am personally where I am today because he obeyed that voice. He also taught us about humility, the true doctrine of the Word of God, and nothing less.

Thanks also to Pastor E. Dlamini for always listening and praying with me when I needed her prayers. And not forgetting our mother in Christ, Pastor N. Manqele for being there as a mother, rebuking and admonishing us in love. Also my biological mother, Gladys Hloti, who never stopped praying for me and introduced me to her God. I will forever be grateful for that. She has given me the greatest treasure, and best of all, has left me a legacy I would love to pass on to my children.

I would also like to thank Pastor S. Ntumba, who first showed me the love of Christ. While I was still a sinner, he never treated me as such, but instead invited me to church the way I was, and told me Christ loves me for who I am. Pastor L. Mamba, thank you for teaching me the Word of God and for being patient with me even though I asked so many questions about Christianity. He introduced me to the Holy Spirit, and how much God desires us to pray in tongues.

I would also like to thank my pastors at the Midrand Miracle Centre – Pastors M. Vilane and G. Vilane – all my fellow brothers in Christ, and all the Saints in the Revival Life Ministry family. We are the body of Christ and Christ is the head, we all have a part to play in the body, and there is no part that is insignificant. There is no small ministry in the body of Christ, it all matters.

I would also like to thank my prayer group, the Inner Chamber, for praying for souls, because the souls are the heartbeat of God. To my dear sister, Mmagauta Kumbi, for always playing the role of a big sister in my life, and for praying and supporting me in my ministry.

Most of all, I would like to thank my other half, my friend, my companion, my bubbly husband, Lesiba Jack Serite, who supported me in my calling and my ministry. He is indeed a gift from God, and my pillar of strength. To all my family members and friends, love you all Yotta! We are together for life, and we will love each other till eternity.

    Introduction

One day I was pondering about my talent, worried that other people have talents and gifts and I don’t. I asked my Father God about my talent, and told Him I know my calling and my ministry, but I also want to know my talent. Because He is a God who hears and speaks, He answered, and reminded me of when I was in primary school and used to write novels, short stories and dialogues. He told me that writing is my talent – something I was so happy to discover.

Then on February 5, 2019, God woke me up at around 3am and told me to write a book. A book about my life, my testimony and every storm, mountain and valley I had been through in my life. A book that would bring many young people to His Kingdom. He told me that when preaching at schools and tertiary institutions, I must distribute this book together with Bibles. He gave me the title of the book – THERE IS GOD as well as the cover and design of the book, adding that it must be green, yellow and white. He said the cover must have pure white clouds carrying heavy rain, green grass, and the letters THERE IS GOD must be written in bold yellow – yellow because it depicts life. The colours green, yellow and white are the colours of Revival Life Ministry, which God gave to Apostle Simelane when He gave him a vision. God said green is for revival, yellow is for life, and white is for ministry.

Apostle Simelane said before the trumpet sounds, people will know there is a living God who created the heavens and the earth, and all that is in it. He said even the atheists will know there is a God; all false religions will come back to their God. Scientists too, will repent and know there is only one God, and one Mediator between men and God.

I have found out that ministry unleashes your talents, and when you minister in a way that God has called you, you are fulfilling your mission and purpose on earth. People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel Unknown. When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place. Everything will be OK in the end. If it is not OK, then it is not the end. Study without service leads to spiritual stagnation, and maturity is for ministry. If you listen too much to what people say about you, you will not listen to what God is saying to you. It takes a desire and spiritual strength to fulfil the will of God about your life. Allow the Spirit of God to take you on a journey that highlights areas in your life which need to be focused on or subdued. Then, determine that your life and ministry will be a spiritual success in this generation and bless the nations of the earth to the glory of God.

It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ…He had His eye on us, had designed us for glorious living; part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone

    – Ephesians 1:11 (Msg).

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to my mother who went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2020. She played a significant role in my life –she raised me as a single parent, and most of all, introduced me to her God. She was a prayer warrior and an evangelist, preaching the good news to all her neighbours, and everyone she encountered. I also learnt humility and love from her; she loved all people the same – especially those who did not know the love of Christ. She would preach to the worst of sinners, and they would listen to her, simply because of her attitude towards them. She treated everyone with respect, and she loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, soul and body. God was her everything. She did not have money or riches, but she was content. It was as though she knew her biggest treasure was not here on earth, but in heaven, and that was the purpose of her living. We must not store our treasure here on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal – Matthew 6:19.

She was like Apostle Paul; forgetting those things which were behind her, and reaching forward to those which were ahead, pressing towards the goal to win the heavenly prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. She was the happiest person I have ever seen on earth, she had peace that surpasses all understanding. It is true that the richest person is not the one who has all the money in the world, but it is the one who has encountered Christ and has a personal relationship with Him!

Three days before her passing, I saw an open vision – the heavens were opened, and her spirit was welcomed into heaven with joy and jubilation, and she was given her crown for her work done on earth. I had never seen such a thing before in my life. I was so amazed, and blessed to experience what was happening in heaven. And that was an assurance to me that heaven is so real, and when one lives right before God; he or she will spend his or her eternity in heaven. It is also true that to live is Christ and to die is gain, which made me change my perspective about Christianity and my walking with God. I have realised that Christianity is not as complicated as we sometimes paint it to be. It is so simple. We just need grace; and the Bible tells us that we must come boldly to the throne of God to receive grace to help us in times of need. We must not be proud to tell God we are in need of His grace, because His grace is sufficient for all of us! My mother served her generation with the purpose of God and went to be with the Lord. "She has fought the good fight, she has finished the race, she has kept the faith" – 2 Timothy 4:7. She will always be remembered, till we meet again at home, in heaven!

    Foreword

The author has devoted a significant amount of time unwrapping the faithfulness of God in this book. The application of God’s Word in her own life has yielded an untiring devotion to seeing the lives of others transformed through her writing.

In There is God, Pauline shares the heart-warming testimony of her personal journey with God. With these humorous and insightful stories, you cannot miss how she has always overcome the enemy. The secrets of her victories unwrapped, reveal the names of Jehovah so we can all become intimately acquainted with Him. When you understand the meanings of His names, then you will understand His character and His heart.

I pray that you may experience God’s love as you read the unfolding story of Pauline’s life, who has been solely called to serve this generation with God’s purpose.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Jehovah Raah (The Shepherd)

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not lack.

    – Psalm 23:1

I was born in Tembisa township in the East Rand. I am the last child of the late Petrus Motaung and Gladys Hloti. We were a very big family – my grandmother, father, mother, their six children, my uncle, his wife and their four children, my aunts and their children – all living in my grandmother’s four-roomed house. It was basically a family house, and my father was the firstborn and a breadwinner. The living arrangement was not ideal for all of us. My elder brother and sister had been left at my mother’s home in the Eastern Cape.

My father decided to look for a place for my mother, so that he could build a home for his family. He was told about a village in Pretoria called Stinkwater near Hammanskaal, which my parents went to see. They loved it and immediately decided to build their home there. That was how my family moved from Tembisa to Pretoria. As my father was still working in Johannesburg, he continued to stay at his home in Tembisa, and would only see us during weekends or at the end of the month. He took good care of us, and although I was about four years old at the time, I still have a picture in my mind of how nice it was when he was around. He would bring us groceries, candies and new clothes. In fact, my brothers and sisters spoke about how good life was when my father was around.

But, things changed when my father began cheating on my mother. He no longer came home, and didn’t send us money for maintenance. He eventually left my mother for another woman, and went to stay with her. My mother went to Tembisa to find out what was happening, but my father was no longer staying there, and they had no idea where he was. My father did not only abandon us, he also abandoned his mother. My grandmother was a good person, she loved us dearly and also loved my mother. Actually, she was against what my father was doing to us. Life became difficult for my mother, and she was forced to raise six children on her own. My mother did not work – she was a traditional healer (sangoma), but no clients were coming for consultations, so there was no income. We were the poorest of the poor, and would sometimes go for three days without eating. I was the youngest, and would cry when hungry. Apparently I would go to the neighbours asking for something to eat; some would have compassion and oblige. At times we didn’t even have a candle to bring light in the house, and if we were looking for our blankets in order to prepare to sleep, we would open the door so that the light from the moon would assist us. Often we would go to sleep on hungry stomachs, but God was always there, even though we did not know it.

My father no longer cared that he had a family, and stopped paying the furniture bills. Eventually, the furniture was repossessed and we were left with a big empty house, which my mother decided to sell. We moved to another area in the same village and stayed in a shack. My brothers and sisters were forced to drop out of school and look for jobs. They found a piece job with one of our neigbours, and worked with my mother selling empty paint buckets door-to-door. This brought in barely enough money to buy basic food such as maize meal and sugar, which did not even last a month. Basically, soft porridge was our only food – for breakfast, lunch and supper – with tea in the morning and with sugar water during the day. When my mother had a little extra money, we would have it with potatoes or tomato gravy, and sometimes we would have it with only onion, and put water to make onion soup. We would only eat bread when we had visitors; and would only slaughter a chicken at Christmas when there was a visitor who would buy us a chicken. Meat and
