Self-Disclosure and Disclaimer
This is a book of proverbs, aphorisms, advice, truth, humor and attempted wisdom. But it was written by me — a wretched sinner who has foolishly failed in more ways than most.
I just want to be clear from the outset that I do know I am an idiot.
I have not written this book to promote myself as a holy sage who has lived out my own wisdom well.
The main reason I share the following is to challenge you to both know well and then, unlike me, to do well. You see, I always knew better, but I didn’t do better. And that is an important truth to swallow. You can be given wisdom by God, share that wisdom, but not live by that wisdom.
You can know what’s best and then always do what is worst.
Any doubts? Ask King Solomon — he was the wisest man ever and yet he used his free will to make the most horrific decisions available. (But he did write out some really powerful proverbs we can all use.)
And while I have also made my mistakes, I too believe I have some useful offerings for you. I wrote this book to tell you what I think is important to do and think and say and pray during the life you have.
Know better, do better and live your best.
So, enjoy my fairly random advice and see what it looks like upon application. Take what you think is useful and put it into practice. Then, write your own book about the things you think you think and pass it on to the ones you love.
Think you can do that?
Might be fun, right?
