A special thank you to my wife, Katriece, and resident
editor, my daughter Samaria. Both have been a source of inspiration and an encouragement to me throughout this process. I am thankful to have them in my life. Thank you to my parents (Clyde and Betty Zachery), my sister (Nikki) and my aunts and uncles (Barbara, Bill, Charles, Lois and Verne) for their support and their solicited and unsolicited (smile) contributions
to this book.
I am grateful for Senior Pastors Emeritus, Allen and Anna McNair, Lead Pastor Theo McNair, First Lady Octavia McNair, and my Believers’ Bible Christian Church family.
To my Fote
Valley Third Thursday Zoom Crew, my family and friends, thank you for your support along this journey. To God be the glory.
Introduction
I remember Pastor Allen McNair ministering on the Spirit of Faith during the early 1990s. I played the cassette tape over and over again. I told myself that Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God and I was determined to get it. I knew some things could be taught, and other things had to be caught
by the Spirit of God. I can hear him on the tape saying, believing maintains your position of faith.
How do we believe? Accept the statement or promise as true. If God gives you a word for something, then faith comes for that word He gave you. Believe and act on it, and it will produce in your life! I guess I thought it was just going to miraculously happen for me. I wasn’t impatient, but after a week I said, something is not working.
My church-folk friends said, You have to believe God.
Others said, You need to have more faith.
Some saints said, You must have some unconfessed sin in your life.
Well, talk about being discouraged and feeling like a failure!
It was March 17, 2019, when I understood my error. Pastor McNair said, Never follow miracle-less people. Those who have never heard from God.
I got it. I was going to people who possibly had never heard or received from God, so they couldn’t guide me as a new believer. I came to the resolution that I was sure they meant well. During one of my chat sessions
with Mrs. Anna McNair she said, Sam, you don’t know the condition of someone’s heart. How can you be sure that people mean well?
People can have good intent, but the wrong motive. Lesson learned. When we are young in the things of God, relationships and who we feed off of matters. It doesn’t change as we grow in the things of God. You can’t eat from everyone’s table.
Mark 11:22-24 says, And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Paul shared in II Corinthians 10:15 that when their faith was increased, they would be able to play a part in expanding the work. That let me know there are levels to our faith. We cannot believe beyond our knowledge of God’s word. As Dr. Hendrix says, trust the process. If faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, keep listening. Keep believing.
Liberty Savard, the author of Shattering Your Strongholds, shared, Only with God can you start over more than once with an unblemished, untarnished, 100 percent, still-intact potential.
When thoughts of sin, guilt and remorse from old transgressions pop up in our mind, we need to shift our focus from what happened then to what has happened now. What happened then was we were sinners. We did what sinners do. We sinned. What has happened NOW is that we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. What has happened NOW is that according to Romans 10:9, when we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe in our heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved. Jeremiah 17:14 says Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.
Savard went on to say that, Your present, your future, your relationship with the Lord and others will only be diminished by your inability to receive God’s grace.
Pastor Joseph Prince shared during a communion service that the blood of Jesus covers all of our sins; past, present and future. Praise God for the blood.
While attending a leadership meeting during the summer of 1992, Senior Pastor Emeritus Allen McNair, Sr., shared with the team the following excerpt from a sermon he heard preached by Smith Wigglesworth in reference to the Bible:
Never compare this book with other books. Comparisons are dangerous. Never think or say that this book contains the word of God. It is the word of God. It is supernatural in origin; eternal in duration; inexpressible in value; infinite in scope; regenerative in power; infallible in authority; universal in interest; personal in application; inspired in totality. Read it through. Write it down. Pray it in. Work it out and then pass it on.
That message has remained with me until this day and frames the intent of this book. May it bless, encourage, and motivate you to fulfill the call of God in your life as it has mine. Unless otherwise stated, the biblical references will be from the King James Version.
Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you.
Jeremiah 30:2
January 8, 2019 (5:48 a.m.)
Almost two years have passed since the Lord spoke to me about writing this book. I started. Quit. Started again. Quit. Became discouraged. Quit. Became distracted. Quit. And started again. This work represents a collection of thoughts scribbled on napkins, notes from audio recordings of inspirational posts that resonated with me, tidbits of messages from a variety of motivational speakers and
