Come Quickly: A Message from God in a Dream
()
About this ebook
I believe God in one way or another speaks to us daily if we learn how to communicate with Him. You want to just dismiss it, right? I can hear you saying, “God only spoke to people in the Bible.” I don’t believe God uses a burning bush or angel every time He wants to convey a message. God is everywhere. He can communicate in in any way and as often as He chooses. However, who says God spoke to them these days? They are either lying or crazy. Well, I say to you okay, have it your way and don’t believe. Then don’t be surprised when you dream about something totally odd one night and can’t help but wonder if it was just a dream or a message from God trying to talk to you. If he can’t get your attention one way, He will get it another. Do yourself a favor and pay attention the first time. Why is He speaking to us?

JESUS OF NAZARETH
IS PASSING BY
You ask have I seen Jesus …
Let this be my reply.
At times I’ve known so truly
That he was passing by.
I saw Him in a soldier
Returned from recent wars.
Both handicapped severely
And burdened down with scars.
Beginning with a vigor
Employing what remained.
He stood as prime example
Of richer life attained.
I saw Him in a mother
With barely strength to cope
But teaching perseverance
And faith and love and hope.
I saw Him in a husband
Who lost two cherished wives
Yet cheerfully endeavored
To brighten others’ lives.
I saw Him in compassion
With goods as well as word.
As man gave hand and heart when
A cry for help was heard.
You ask have I seen Jesus
Let this be my reply
At times I feel so deeply
That He is passing by.

Chapter 1
COME QUICKLY
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
—1 Corinthians 1:25
Come quickly.
It was a man’s voice. He was looking directly at me. He spoke clearly and with great authority yet with gentleness. I turned to look at him and instantly recognized him, although I could barely see him. It was several years ago now. I could only see an image of a man covered in white. The vista behind him, where there was normally a view of the valley, was blurred because there was a great light behind him. It was Jesus.
It may be difficult to believe that I received this message, but after doing some research, I found that many people have had similar experiences. Joseph, son of Jacob, dreamed of God. So did Joseph, the husband of Mary. Solomon also had a dream of God. Peter references God using dreams to communicate with us. Even today, people report dreams of God. He didn’t just speak to people in the Bible. God is omnipresent. He can be everywhere at the same time and lives outside our dimension.
The concept of this book was derived from a dream I had about Jesus. The dream felt so real and strongly influenced me to confirm the details of my faith once and for all. I realized I still had many questions about my faith. Moreover, I wasn’t living like a Christian. I wasn’t living like I trusted God. I didn’t seek His guidance, forgiveness, or path. I didn’t know too much about the writings of the Bible, didn’t attend church, rarely prayed, and it never occurred to me to ask God to guide my life. My dream revealed that I needed to step up my walk with God and showed me how I should try to accomplish His purpose for my life. This book talks about the lessons I learned along the way while trying to find true faith.
I was raised to believe in God. My parents taught me Jesus died for our sins. We rarely went to church, but we had faith. As an adult, I always claimed to be Christian. Life’s events and obstacles derailed my original path. Perhaps some of you can relate to this. In high school, I thought I had my life all figured out. Then I graduated, and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. College was harder than I had anticipated. Some family members and close friends died. I had to sell my family home, and my relationships fell apart. By the age of twenty-five, I felt like a middle-aged woman and a complete failure. I felt alone. Suddenly, I was on a completely different path because I had to put my dreams aside just to survive. I wanted to do things on my own, but my youth and inexperience were taken advantage of at every turn. Trying to find my way back, I turned from God and became caught up in the world and in my own desires. I didn’t denounce Him. I just didn’t rely on Him in the way I should have by letting Him guide me through many difficult decisions.
As time went on, every decision I made only made things worse. I dug a very wide and deep hole for myself. I so desperately wanted to be rescued, but there was no one. Years later, the only thing that got me out of the hole was surrendering my life to God and asking Him to come back into my life. I soon realized that God wants to be gracious to us. He wants us to have wonderful and fruitful lives, but He wants us to have them with Him instead of trying to do it on our own without Him. He wants a relationship with us and has gone to extreme measures to prove it.
The dream I will describe in this book made me feel that God was calling me back and showing me the way to get back on the right path, with Him. I prayed and asked God if He wanted me to write this book, and I dared not begin until I received an answer. The answer was in sermon messages and Bible passages that kept coming up. Verses like Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans
(Proverbs 16:3). And So, then, be careful how you live. Do not be unwise but wise, making the best use of your time because the times are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is
(Ephesians 5:15–17). The sermons from different pastors both alive and passed away were all saying the same thing. They said to get to work. Their message spoke of our prayers to God and how we’re always asking for something. We use Him like we use our parents. They’re fine to be around when we need something. Then we ignore them or are not interested enough in them to help or listen when they need something. We choose not to listen when God asks us to do something by leading us in a direction or speaking to our consciences. These pastors said if we could really hear God speak to us, He would say not to ask for anything else until we do what He has asked of us first. I delayed writing this book for months, and then I started feeling guilty after hearing those messages. I decided to listen to the Lord, let Him guide me, and get to work. Then I dared not leave it unfinished.
The dream had a definite time component—to come back now, right now. To stop what I was doing and just sit with God. I needed to reconnect with my faith. I needed to be more confident in my faith than in my ability or in the ability of others to give me the things I need and want. This first dream led to other dreams that helped me on my spiritual journey. I had several other dreams, but none were as vivid and real as the first. I used them as part of this book because I felt like they were relevant to the message.
This experience compelled me to study the Word of God as written in the Bible. I should tell you that this book was not written by a preacher or theologian. My degrees don’t have anything to do with theology. They are in Chinese medicine, so this is very much a new subject for me to write about. As a matter of fact, it is completely ridiculous that I’m writing a book on Christianity. So, I hope you can appreciate the absurdity while receiving the message. Perhaps the foolishness of God using me to deliver a Christian message is wiser than I can understand right now.
We are all so much alike. I assume that if I am struggling with questions and doubts, then there are probably many other people with the same struggles. Even Mother Teresa had doubts in her faith. I still have many questions, and I’m far from perfect, so I pray this book helps others to lift their hearts to the Lord. I also hope our time together will create conversations about your faith, your mental acceptance of Jesus, and the physical manifestation of God within you. I hope that you all discover God’s purpose for your lives and you’re able to find a way to start doing it immediately. You are already on the right path by exploring more content on the subject. Maybe this book inspires some of you to reread the Bible to capture that renewed energy I have right now. Whatever this book inspires you to do, I hope it stays with you for a lifetime.
You may disagree with many things written in this book. That is okay. Find out for yourself what is true. I am continuing to learn every day, and my thoughts and interpretations may change over time. While reading, try to remain open enough to consider some of the arguments made throughout the text. There are many subjects discussed in the book that are both thought provoking and perhaps common knowledge. I warn you that I have a dry sense of humor. I hope you take some tongue-in-cheek comments I have written throughout the book as such. This chapter was originally the introduction. I felt that you wouldn’t read it if I left it as is, so I changed it to be the first chapter.
To prepare to write, I prayed. I told God I felt foolish writing a book on religion when I’d never read the entire Bible, never really studied it, and didn’t know His Word. I tried not to
