    Benefits of Detoxing

    Completing the Goddess Rebirth Detox is like hitting a reset button for your mind, body, and spirit. The world around us has become increasingly toxic; From the food we eat to the media we listen to and watch. Not to mention, who we keep in our circle. The benefits of detoxing are vast. Not only physically but spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.

    It is good idea to detox at least once or twice per year. Or cleanse your temple when your spirit leads you to do so. Physically it can help rejuvenate your body by increasing your energy levels, balancing your hormones, improving digestion and aid in waste elimination. Your kidneys and adrenals will get a much-needed break, your skin will begin to glow, and it will help alleviate cravings. Detoxing also helps the liver function optimally. The liver helps the body rid itself of toxins. If it is overworked, inflamed and not properly functioning the body will be contaminated. Which leads to other organs not functioning at their best.

    An article by Susan Kaden read, When toxins circulate through your body, they infiltrate your tissues, cells, central nervous system and even your brain. They have a negative effect on behavior, your immune system, your metabolism, and will leave you feeling lethargic and moody. Long-term exposure to toxins can destroy sleeping patterns, create anxiety and incite depression. A healthy detox can rid your body of dangerous toxins and chemicals and can have tons of positive effects on your mental health.

    We sub-consciously ingest so much into our spirits daily just through our day to day interactions. Never truly realizing that a lot of that is sticking with us and weighing us down spiritually. Issues that reside in our spirit eventually will navigate to our thoughts and emotions, clouding our thinking and leaving layers of negative emotional residue. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying thoughts become things, well in this case thoughts become stress. And stress manifests in the physical body in the form of aches, pains and even depression. As your body cleanses itself it releases toxins, negative emotions and that gives way to mental clarity. You will feel less weighed down mentally and even feel happier.

    When to Detox

    When is the perfect time to detox? Honestly, there is no perfect time. Ask yourself a few questions. Am I feeling a bit off? Do I feel pulled in multiple directions and over-stressed? Are my thoughts consistently negative? Maybe you feel sick and tired or drained? Do you want to hide away from the world for a few days?

    When you are truly ready detox your life you will have an urge to do so. You will feel it not only in your body but mentally as well. You will have a feeling of needing to purge. Seeking to remove things that are cluttering your mind, space, and spirit. You will find yourself cleaning more, throwing things out, removing items and people that no longer serve a purpose.

    Candid Moment

    On September 4th 2018, I felt my spirit telling me it was time to let some things go and release. For me writing is my go-to when I want to get things off my mind. So, I wrote.

    "So, it begins. This morning I awoke at 7:56am with tears rolling down my face. Sometimes I feel like this world offers me little opportunity to be soft, broken, and delicate. I am always expected to be strong but never human, yearning for the very love and inspiration I put into the universe.

    Things I would normally blow off are affecting my attitude. Rejection hits me with the hardest of blows and lingers on my mind longer than it should.

    I used this weekend to take time for myself. To pour into myself the love I give everyone else. To refill my tank. To release some of this gunk that is weighing down my spirit. I am coming to grips with the fact that having my kindness taken advantage of by a friend took something from me (which I tried to deny for a while). It put a damper on my desire to be there for others. Some people can cross your path and change your entire direction. I must get back to where I was before I allowed a poor decision to take me off track.

    I have been needing this release for a while. But it really became apparent back in July, but I really did not have the opportunity to isolate myself from the world. So here I am tears falling, hoping the salt droplets that stream down my cheeks will cleanse me deep.

    I am just feeling really sensitive to everything at the moment. I suppose when you open up and allow yourself to feel, you feel everything."

    Just like the body, the soul needs an occasional cleansing. We get consumed with life, the media, negativity and at times it leaves our spirits bogged down with junk. Here are a few signs that you may need a spiritual detox.

    • When your energy is consistently off.

    • When your thoughts keep you unfocused. As well as away from your purpose and things you desire to accomplish.

    • When your soul is buried in feelings of frustration, guilt, shame, or unhappiness.

    • Your heart hurts or you are numb to your own suffering and the suffering of others.

    • When things get superficial and fleshly. You are no longer capable of seeing things on a spiritual level.

    • You shy away from meditation, prayer, and anything inspirational.

    • When you are living life through the lens of your wounds and not based on what is actually happening around you.

    • How you address others has become consistently negative and sarcastic. Often unintentionally.

    • You do not sleep well.

    • You constantly feel like you are the victim.

    The body (your temple) will give you signs that it needs a cleansing as well. When:

    • Your body is constantly inflamed and retaining fluid that is out of the norm.

    • You have low energy and are consistently fatigued.

    • You are having trouble sleeping.

    • Your joints are achy without a previously known cause.

    • You have excessive body odor.

    • You feel frequently bloated and as if your food never fully digests and passes through your system. And/or you are constipated.

    • You have gained weight but have not had a huge change in your exercise or nutritional habits to warrant such a change. And you may have food cravings.

    • You are experiencing skin breakouts, irritability, and headaches.

    Just to name a few.

    How to Detox

    How should one begin detoxing? What steps should be taken? What can be done to ensure success? For each person this will vary simply because we are all in need of different things, are strong in some areas, weak in others and so forth. But here are some basic How To actions to implement.
