Goliath is a multinational with more than 1,200 employees and David used to be one of those employees. David started out on his own, looking to be independent, acquire overall peace and have lots of fun doing what he does best. This David and Goliath thing is not about competition; it’s about achieving what you set out to achieve, and accomplishing certain goals in life.

David Beats Goliath is the story of how David reached the leading position in one particular market segment. It’s not about the market segment but yes, it’s about reaching this leading position: these are the steps to take you to the top and keep you there. With this information, you can reach the top in everything you desire.

So, lets go for the top, or, as I put it: David Beats Goliath.

As you may know, I’m a German now working in Italy, in the beautiful city of Milan. It wasn’t always like this; I previously worked in Austria and Germany. But when I started to work in Italy, everything changed. My life during the past twelve years has been so much better than other people’s lives. My life isn’t just good or nice; it’s magnificent, with all the possibilities that everyone would like to have at some stage during their lifetime.

And yes, I have lived this life now for more than twelve years, and it will continue, even though we had a dark time during one of these years. But when you are a positive person like me, dark times cannot really pull you down.

CHAPTER 1

How Everything Began

You must think that I am crazy to stick a title like this on my new book. And yes, I am crazy, my friends tell me this all the time. Almost always they say this because I see only the positive things in life, even when everything seems to get worse and worse. Nothing can really get so bad that I don’t find something positive in it. Sometimes I will need a bit longer to realize it, but when I do realize it, then it comes to me like a flash and I immediately feel so much better.

For example, for my beloved wife, March 12, 2011 was probably the worst day of her life, and for me it was very bad too. But for me, everything changed from there on in, changed to something excellent, something much much better than I could ever have imagined.

That day, around 1 a.m., my wife Vera got a call from her cousin who lived in the same house as her parents. He told her that her mom was very ill. So she jumped out of bed and drove to her parents’ house, and what she found there was one of the worst things ever
