About this ebook
I was born the eldest of four children to Thomas and Wilma McLeod. Raised in North Vancouver with my two brothers and a sister, I was very lucky to have had a wonderful and normal childhood.
We (John and I) were married in September of 1972. In 1975, we moved to the beautiful Sunshine Coast, where we have lived on

This book is dedicated to
John, Heidi, and Alisa
and
to those who have touched my heart.
Grandma
I look around and see
Lots of gifts you have given me.
The hours and hours of pleasure,
Of these I will always treasure.
My hope chest has seen dreams come true.
The pretty teacups of orange, yellow, and blue.
A coffeepot off Grandpa’s boat
That Mom smuggled out under her coat.
The lovely cozy and teapot,
Even ten hours later, the tea is still hot.
With pearl plates up on my shelf
I sit here and say to myself.
Such a lucky girl am I
As a teardrop fills my eye,
But most of all, I want to say,
I love you, Grandma, in every way.
Our Little Palace on the Hill
We have become new homeowners on McCullough Road,
Something I never thought would be.
With a little girl, one on the way, Ms. Pooh all in a new
abode, This is hard to believe for you and me.
Our home up on the hillside
While watching the eagles glide,
The sunrays off the ocean waters
gleam. To me, this home is like
living in a dream.
On this lovely piece of land,
A cute little playhouse does stand,
Where our children will play day after day
I love this place so much in every way.
Gentle breeze and sunshine bright
Sitting in a bit of heaven’s light,
The foxgloves tall of purple and white.
The wind chimes tingle; it’s a lovely sight.
Crows are cawing and chickadees cheep.
I sit in the soothing water of our hot tub, neck deep
The whispering wind upon my face
Slows me down to the reality of life’s pace.
My muscles are now relaxed and heart full of glee.
A rejuvenated mama, I will surely be.
I miss my days of my hubby’s touches and kiss.
Knowing soon he will be home for this, I would never miss.
Until we are together once again soon,
The days will pass as does the moon.
My heart will always be full of love and care,
Knowing that our palace on the hill and you will always be there.
John
Honey, I love you with all my heart.
I hate it when we are apart.
I worry when you’re not here with
me. With a hug and a kiss, you can plainly see.
I love you.
I need you here deep in the night
To cuddle close and hold me tight,
To tell me that you love me so,
That you will never let me go.
I love you.
The children wonder why I am sad
I just say I’m missing Dad.
Even Penny wonders where you are.
I can’t explain you are working away off far.
I love you.
Sleep well, my love,
to you, I say.
For all my blessings in life I pray,
That the good Lord brings you home
safe to me, In my loving arms where
you are meant to be.
I love you.
One Afternoon
As I sit and read a book, the sun shines down on me.
The birds are singing loudly in almost every tree.
The sound of wood crashing down on the beach,
I hear an eagle give an eerie screech.
I think of you, John, working so hard every day.
I know in the end, it will pay,
But it’s the long, hard day in and day out. I just
worry if this is what life is all about.
The clouds draw near with a gentle breeze.
Awake from her nap is wee Heidi These.
Boo, boo,
she speaks with her sweet little grins.
May you be blessed, dear little one, for your future sins.
In we go; it’s getting cold. The winds have now picked up.
The eagle is circling the house and scares our little pup.
Safe in Mommy’s arms, a gentle hug you give.
I am so very thankful for this lovely life I live.
