Think before you get divorced, a family member said. A woman of your age (about 54 at the time) will battle to find a man. Men prefer younger women. I suddenly felt rather insignificant. I was defined by whether I had a man?
I had a quick flash forward and imagined myself on my own for the rest of my life. I do have a fabulous tribe of friends, a sisterhood, but they have their own lives to live and cannot be at my beck and call, especially in the middle of the night when I wake up to a panic attack, or feelings of loneliness.
