Heart Strings

About this ebook
I am a wife and mother of 2 children, one girl and one boy, and the Grandmother of one girl.
My poem All Grown Up was the first to be published by The Poetry Guild. I was published and received The Editors Choice Award from the National Poetry Library and also The International Poetry Library. I have also been published by my hometown news paper The Shawnee News and Star and the Delaware County Daily Times.
There have been some interesting times in my life, some sad, some happy and others just plain crazy. Each one has left an impression on my life in some manner and that reflects in my poetry.
Please read and enjoy my poetry. Maybe it will inspire you to write some of you own and pass it along to your loved ones.
There is no better gift than one from the heart that is created by the Heartstrings of your life.

The cover of this book is a composite of a picture drawn on ledger paper by a young girl in 1938. The flowers and ribbon are part of that picture. The Heart Strings
are her initial L
which appeared in the center of the wreath of flowers. With computer assistance and a little bit of patience I have been able to save this treasure and proudly display it as the cover of my book of poetry.

P.S. That young girl is my Mother.

This book is dedicated to all the people who have touched my life in so many ways.
Each one has found a Heart String to be woven into the tapestry of my life.
Heart Strings
They fall into place like quilt squares
On a brightly colored base,
Each one to fill its hole,
Each one to take its place
These little things I speak of
Are simply pen and ink
Every one a part of me
One small thread I think.
They are lovingly called heartstrings
As each one is from the heart
And every time I pull one,
New poems just seem to start.
Each thread is joined together
To form this special book,
So if you have a moment
Sit down and take a look.
This collection of my poetry
Has been captured in one space,
To let you see my heart strings
That have fallen into place.
Jan Bryan
A Mother’s Hands
To look at them they are normal
Bent and worn with age
They have seen many a diaper change.
They have wiped the tears and calmed the fears
And
