Chapter 1 - INTRODUCTION

The union of a man and a woman is one of the most beautiful things that can happen in life. The love that brings two people from different cultural, racial, social, and educational backgrounds together, and cause them to decide to live together until death do them part can only be explained by the Author and Originator of the union.

The designer of the union has a great plan for the partners involved. He has a great agenda for them that is not only beyond them but is also transgenerational. I believe that the originator of the union considered the future and saw the great and beautiful end of the union which I believe is for His kingdom to be established from generation to generation.

God established the union for the fulfilment of the destinies He already mapped out for each person that is included in the union. The union creates the environment for members to join forces together to resist the devices of the enemy who is against the will of God for His children.

What is this union? The union is simply that beautiful thing that we call marriage.

The story of marriage

Marriage is the coming together of a matured man and woman in a holy relationship to bring forth Godly and goodly children who will take over from them to proclaim the beauty of God in their lives and expand His kingdom. Marriage is considered holy because it was instituted by the most holy God.

The story of marriage started from the garden of Eden when God saw the loneliness of Adam, the first man He created. The Bible says in Genesis 2:18

Genesis 2:18

18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

God is so mindful of the state of our lives. He is so concerned about how happy and how fulfilled we are in life. He did not create us to abandon us. In fact, the scripture says that a nursing mother may forget her child, but God will never forget us.

Isaiah 49:15 The Message (MSG)

15 "Can a mother forget the infant at her breast, walk away from the baby she bore? But even if mothers forget, I’d never forget you—never.

He looked around to see what could make the man He created in His image and likeness to be happy and fulfilled, showcasing the perfect image of God. None of the animals or any of the creatures made by God could bring complete happiness to Adam. God had to look inside the man to create the masterpiece and perfect gift that would make the man happy and fulfilled. This masterpiece was named Eve.

There is always the seed of greatness inside every man created by God. With the help of the Holy Spirit and our submission to the will of the Father, we can easily bring forth the great gift deposited in us by the breath of God. There is so much in us. It takes the help of God to draw out the gifts in us.

God’s gift to Adam was so perfect that Adam shouted, ‘the bone of my bone and the flesh of my flesh’. He quickly identified the source and the importance of taking ownership. He gave the gift a
