    A man, if he is to be a great man must rule his head. His convictions Sheldon? Must be of metal. Like this knife here.

    I kept practising my Italian as best and when I could, but still, I struggled with it.

    Not like the china.

    Whitcomb raised the plate I had just served him.

    Porcellana, I said.

    The ornate plate against the wall. Shattered.

    You see? What did that accomplish? Whitcomb asked in earnest.

    You've made a mess which I'll have to clean.

    I reached for the wall to wipe the stain.

    Away. When suddenly the knife landed into the fresco. Precisely.

    Just missing my head as if to make a point. I reached for my shell. Half expected the lobe to be severed. It was that close, mate. My hand moved to the knife. I yanked on it as the wall yielded, it gave way leaving a hole behind. My fingers instinctively tracing its dark borders. That could have been me? I handed the knife back to him.

    Signor. I quipped.

    Whitcomb took it with a smile.

    "You see, one holds its shape, the other turns to chaos. One must rule one's

    emotions or lose one's head."

    It made me laugh. It made me worry. A thought entered my mind that seemed never to occur to him. There was a third outcome. He managed to turn a tool into a weapon.
