In a city bus on a hot afternoon. The Santa Ana’s were blowing causing an uncomfortable sticky sweat for its passengers. The smell of human stink began to hang in the pores of metal and cushion. The proletariats shifted anxious.

An older man in his early seventies with time-worn clothes to match his sagging face sat unassuming reading his Los Angeles Times when a platinum chain happened to catch his eye. It was hanging off the neck of a twenty-something chip-on-his-shoulder leather jacket type. Brown-skinned wannabe Snoop Dog.

Nice chain. Dwight couldn't help himself. Before returning to his paper.

The platinum wearing dude turned with an unhappy look.

What the hell?

And so it began.

Jacket too, Dwight added with a nod and smile.

You checkin’ me out, old man? Not flattered. Not concerned. But genuinely surprised.

I'm just going to buy some groceries. Dwight cajoled innocent.

Platinum responded in
