Merrill was hiding behind a pale yellow sheer curtain with his trademark horn-rimmed glasses resting on the bridge of his nose. He stood on the veranda staring up at the Italian sky. Once again, hesitant.

The shapely body of Madalena laid out on the bed beside him barely under the covers. Revealing her shapes. Lovely.

The curtain blew back from a breeze revealing Merrill's calculating face. Soon he was at a desk pushing his spectacles once again up the bridge of his nose writing on hotel stationery, scratching out a single name, George Macallan.

Merrill made his way nervous, gripping a package wrapped neatly in brown paper tied with common string. There was a disturbance, a labour march ahead of him a rally of men holding picket signs. Painted sloppy. The rough translation being: Fair wages. Today! Merrill pushed his way through. Reaching a mailbox, dropping in his package.

He crossed cobblestone. Turning down another muse. More workers. This time, more anger. All this conflict was taking its toll on Merrill. He wiped the sweat from his brow with a handkerchief. Fastidious. He tried another route. Quieter. Narrow arched alleyway. Laundry hung
