El Principio de la Población de Malthus, a pesar de haber sido blanco de numerosas y crecientes críticas tanto en el momento histórico de su surgimiento como hasta nuestros días, ha sido un instrumento muy importante que ha servido de base teórica para los pensadores sociales, políticos y económicos de los siglos XVIII y XIX. Entre ellos, veremos como David Ricardo va a adoptar esta teoría acríticamente, y sobre ella va a desarrollar su teoría económica de la distribución, en un punto de interés crucial como era la discusión sobre los salarios. Gracias a ella ya su condición de supuesta "ley natural y universal" pudo justificar el equilibrio y armonía de un sistema capitalista "idealizado" tan conveniente para una Inglaterra que estaba en pleno proceso de transición desde una estructura económica agrícola hacia una industrial,
Nos proponemos establecer los puntos de continuidad y de ruptura entre los marcos teóricos de Thomas Malthus y David Ricardo.

Mauricio Enrique Fau nació en Buenos Aires en 1965. Se recibió de Licenciado en Ciencia Política en la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Cursó también Derecho en la UBA y Periodismo en la Universidad de Morón. Realizó estudios en FLACSO Argentina. Docente de la UBA y AUTOR DE MÁS DE 3.000 RESÚMENES de Psicología, Sociología, Ciencia Política, Antropología, Derecho, Historia, Epistemología, Lógica, Filosofía, Economía, Semiología, Educación y demás disciplinas de las Ciencias Sociales. Desde 2005 dirige La Bisagra Editorial, especializada en técnicas de estudio y materiales que facilitan la transición desde la escuela secundaria a la universidad.
