Chapter One

Micheal paced the floor, waiting for the crying of a baby, and the doctor coming and saying all is all right. Miki had been in labor 16 hours. The last 6 hours of hard labour which was horrible. Thank God, Kate Davidson and her daughter Lizzy Jones, Miki's best friends from home were there. It took four hours more before the doctor came. He was out at an Emergency. Miki cried, and moaned in pain. Micheal had walked the bedroom floor with Miki, holding her hand, and wiping the sweat from her brow. Kate said, I need to check Miki, and see how soon it will be? Micheal left the room. Kate came out and said, It will be very soon! She was a Midwife, so she knew what to do. Suddenly he heard a baby cry, Micheal ran to the door and waited. After what seemed like an eternity, Kate came out, she said,Micheal you can go in, Miki's doing great. A natural born Momma, and you have a healthy little girl! Have you thought of a girl's name? Tears ran down Micheal's face. He said, I need to see my wife. Micheal ran into Miki's side, Darling are you okay? Miki looked exhausted, she smiled at Micheal. Meet your precious daughter. Kate lifted the baby from Miki's arms, and passed her to Micheal. Miki looked up into his eyes and said, Yes Darling I am fine, a bit sore and tired! Kate said, Don't drop her! Miki said, He knows how to hold baby's he's a great Uncle, and now a Father. Lizzy smiled at Miki. she spoke, Have you guys thought of a name? Micheal and Miki smiled at each other. They both spoke at the same time. Oh yes, we're going to name our daughter Katherine Elizabeth Marie Curran, but she will be called Lizzy for short. Kate smiled from ear to ear. Miki asked Kate, Will you be Lizzy's God Mother? Kate couldn't believe what she heard, her daughters' best friend whose baby she just delivered. Asked her to be the God Mother. Kate was in tears, Of course I will, you're like a daughter to me thank you so very much. My first Grandchild! Micheal passed the baby back to Miki. Miki said, Darling, are you disappointed that she isn't a boy? Micheal answered with tears in his eyes, all choked up. Oh, no Darling I wanted a little girl first, she'll keep her little brother in his place. They both laughed. Micheal spoke, But Darling shouldn't you be laying down now! You must be exhausted. He spoke with caring concern. Kate said, Miki is doing amazing, but yes, she needs to rest. Just then there was a knock on the door, the door opened. Dr. James walked in. He said, Sorry I was late, looks like you did fine without me. Kate spoke up, Yes doctor, but we would still like you to check Miki over and the baby. MicheaL got up and said, You rest I will be back; I have an announcement to make downstairs.. He kissed Miki on the cheek and walked out the door with a large smile on his face. Dr James checked Miki and the baby over. He said, You’re both doing great, but you need to rest. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Mrs. Kate, you did an exceptional job here. Lizzy said, Well she has delivered over 50 babies, so she knows what she is doing! Just then the maid came in with broth and tea for Miki. She said, Momma Marie made this broth just for you, she swears she drank it after the birth of each child, and she healed well and had a speedy recovery! There was a knock on the door, Momma Maria came in. Smiling she said, Hello Darling I just stopped by to check on you, and the baby for a minute. Miki said, Come meet your Granddaughter. Momma Marie spoke, Oh my what a little darling. I'm so glad you are both doing well. She is a substantial size, my Elizabeth is. Kate said, she is 6 lb.2 0z. 22 inches long, tall like her Daddy.. But she is beautiful like her Momma.  Lizzy came back in the room and said, You have a few ladies that want to pop in, but I told them you need to rest first. I will take my namesake out of the room for a little while. She picked up the baby and she spoke softly, Miss Lizzy we have lots to talk about. Miki smiled and laughed. Everyone left the room but Kate. Kate said, You need to rest you'll be sore for a week or so. Miki looked around and saw that Momma Marie took the empty soup bowl out of the room when she left. Micheal taped on the door lightly and came in, he spoke to Miki, Momma is so excited and proud of her granddaughter. Micheal sat down by Miki on a chair placed by the bed. He looked over at Kate and said, Kate go get yourself something to eat, Momma made soup and biscuits for everyone. Kate smiled and answered, Okay the room was empty and quiet Micheal said, Sweetheart rest now, soon you'll be up awake feeding Lizzy, so you need to rest when you can." He leaned over and kissed Miki on the lips Miki's heart skipped a beat Micheal still made her quiver when he came near. Miki closed her eyes she yawned.

Chapter Two

In the living  room everyone was passing Lizzy around, talking about how beautiful she was, with a full head of black hair and the bluest of eyes. After a while Kate took her back to Miki's room. She passed her to Micheal, and Kate whispered, Daddy can hold her while, while Mommy sleeps. You can't hold her too much. They need to know their loved, and I am sure she will get a lot of love. Micheal softly said, Do you think she needs to be changed yet?  Kate said, I changed her downstairs. Mommy will need to feed her after a while. Micheal said, Your looking tired Kate, take the first bedroom and lay down yourself. Miki may need you after a while to teach her the in’s and outs of motherhood. Kate spoke, Miki already fed Lizzy on her own, and she's got that all down pat, I hear Daddy knows how to change his little girl too. Micheal smiled and said softly, It's my job too."  Kate nodded yes and left the room. Micheal lay Lizzy in her cradle he made her. Micheal was pleased he made the cradle the way Miki explained what she wanted. Micheal made it out of red oak from their property. Miki was so proud that Micheal made the cradle for their first child. No doubt every baby after would use it. Miki slept awhile; Lizzy slept also, Micheal watched them closely. What beautiful wonders God had provided them? He had heard of women or children dying in childbirth. But Miki was a healthy woman who readied herself for the birth of their child. Miki knew about women having children, she had aided a Mid Wife with her duties, and she grew up on a farm. She saw many an animal born. Lizzy was stirring, Micheal picked her
