    Intro

    As I caught myself discarding half a tomato, 1/4 avocado, and a handful of grapes into the trash my mind wondered, Why do I waste all this good food every week? There must be a way to salvage and use this food for purposes other than compost, and there is! Apply organic, nutrient rich foods on your face for a natural, healthy and inexpensive beauty treatment.

    Having experimented with herbal beauty products over the years I knew that there were cosmetic uses for these foods. So I began a quest for such a book.

    I wanted a book that included: colorful pictures, a simple design, nutritional information, beauty information, and easy to make recipes using common food ingredients. I decided to research, write, and design my own book as I could not find all of these elements in any one book.

    Having studied nutrition and natural cosmetics, I knew that I could write the book that I and others were seeking. I set to work creating the perfect natural spa book, staying focused on what was important to me in my own search. The book design was kept simple, easy to follow, and abounding with helpful information. I also included pictures of luscious foods and wholesome beauty recipes.

    One basic philosophy behind the creation of this book is that which is good for the inside can also be good for the outside.

    I researched vitamins and nutrients that are known to be good for the skin if taken internally believing that those same nutrients would be equally beneficial if applied externally. If you follow my philosophy and are willing to rely on a mixture of scientific research and personal experience, then this is the book or you.

    I personally tested and photographed all the recipes in this book with the assistance of friends and family. Through these experiences I have discovered hat each person needs to find what works best for heir skin type or condition. Once you find what works you will see glorious results.

    It is the intention of this book to make life easier, prettier, and more fun for my readers as it has for me. You could apply these spa treatments alone, with your children, friends, or spouse. What a great way to spend an exciting afternoon or a sensuous evening.

    You can feel proud that you are minimizing waste and creating natural, cruelty-free, earth-friendly, and chemical-free beauty treatments. Thank you for taking the time to read this book; you are sure to have fun experimenting with the recipes!

    Skin Care Guide

    Monthly Spa Routine

    Wash To remove surface dirt and makeup, wash with a mild soap and warm water. Follow with a cool water rinse. Wash twice daily.

    Scrub To remove the top layer of dead skin cells and reveal fresh, glowing skin, apply an exfoliating ingredient (see page 48) to freshly washed skin. Using your hands or a soft brush, apply ingredients to your skin and scrub gently for 2-3 minutes. Rinse with warm or cool water. Scrub once a week.
