Hunter of Destiny - Bria Lexor
ONE
I HELD MY SUITCASE filled with my belongings and looked up at the building which loomed in front of me. I heard the Uber exit the academy grounds and the two large black metal gates slowly closed behind me. I looked at the name and read it aloud to myself.
ACADIA ACADEMY
Welcome to hell, Aria,
I spoke to myself as I walked up the concrete steps and pulled one of the heavy wooden doors open. I entered the building, and the door closed loudly behind me. My name is Aria Windguard, I am seventeen, and I was just shipped off to Acadia Academy. It is a private school for troubled teenagers. I am an unwanted teenager who nobody wanted. Evidently. I was a reject among the other kids at the orphanage. I am caught by the police and the nuns have been exhausted of my juvenile delinquent ways. So, they shipped my ass off here, hoping I would straighten up. I have long pale blue hair, and Emerald green eyes. I am drop dead gorgeous. But my poor attitude scared the good boys away. I walked up the cement steps and pulled open the heavy wooden door. I stepped inside and walked towards the principal’s office. My shoes echoed off the silent walls. It was late at night, but it surprised me to see the building was still unlocked and lit for my arrival. I was hesitant for a moment before I rapped lightly on the door.
You may enter,
a male voice called from the other side of the door. I placed my hand on the handle and pushed it open. I entered the room and found a man sitting in a chair behind a long wooden desk. He was in his last fifties and his dark hair was graying. He is a tall, skinny man who looked like a no-nonsense type of guy. I already knew I would not like it here, judging by the sight of this man. You were to have arrived here at seven o’clock,
he said, glancing at the clock. It’s nearly ten o’clock Miss. Windguard.
It’s about time she finally showed up,
another male voice growled from the shadows. I thought she ditched us, and I would have to drag her back here myself.
I glanced over to my right and saw a guy around my age. The male had short blue hair and pale blue eyes. He’s taller than me and I could see his muscular arms beneath his white uniform shirt. The guy is alluring. Yet annoyed when he started at me.
The Uber had a flat tire,
I started. He fixed it and dropped off the other passengers before he dropped me off since they were still in the city.
I gushed, biting my lower lip nervously.
It’s fine,
the older gentleman spoke. It’s not safe for you to wander the academy grounds so late at night alone,
he paused as he looked at me. The night can be perilous for the mundane.
What?
I asked, giving him a strange look. I always go out at night-
Not anymore you don’t,
the desirable guy shot as he crossed his arms in front of him and leaned his left shoulder on the wall behind him. Going out at night’s strictly forbidden here unless my father has given you a direct order to do so.
That is enough, Exley,
the gentleman scolded the boy, turning his attention towards the young man. Miss. Windguard will learn the rules of Acadia Academy soon enough.
I’m sure she will,
Exley murmured under his breath. She’s turning out to be a nuisance already.
I could already tell this guy did not like me. He was turning out to be a total imbecile.
I am Principal Cade Windcheater,
he continued, turning his attention towards me. This is my son, Exley Windcheater,
he paused briefly and gave me the once over with his eyes. Exley,
he added, glancing at his son. Please escort Miss. Windguard to the student dormitories.
Yes, father,
he sighed bolting, standing upright. Follow me, Miss. Windguard.
Exley walked over to the door and held it open for me.
Your schedule will be ready in the morning, Miss. Windguard,
the headmaster called. Welcome to Acadia Academy.
I forced a smile and turned and dashed out of his office. Exley walked past me, and I was behind him in a second. He pushed open the heavy wooden door, and I instantly felt the chilly night air hitting my face. I trotted down the cement steps and my pink wheeled suitcase clicked behind me.
The dorms for the day class students are in the East wing of the courtyard.
He mumbled, not looking back at me.
I nodded as we walked towards another building that was nearby. There was another building that was located directly across the courtyard, which was separated from the main courtyard. Lights were on and I stopped dead in my tracks. What’s that building over there?
I inquired, nudging my head towards it.
Exley stopped dead in his tracks and turned around and looked at me. Never go to the North wing, Miss. Windguard,
he whispered. Ever.
Why not?
I questioned as I noticed another guy around my age staring back at me from his place beside a cement archway.
Because
he intoned. That is where the night class dorms are located,
he noticed I was still staring at the guy across the courtyard from where we stood. It’s forbidden for the day class to interact with the night class students.
Why?
I urged, not understanding why I could not interact with the guy who was staring back at me from the archway entrance.
Because
Exley spat, not hiding the anger creeping into his voice. Monsters really exist in our world, Aria.
he exhaled heavily as he looked at me. I have to get you to your dorm immediately, Miss. Windguard.
Monsters?
I scoffed with a forced laugh. Don’t exist in my world, Exley,
I declared as I walked towards him.
The moment you stepped foot onto the academy grounds, Miss. Windguard, you just became the new eye candy for the night class.
He added as he continued walking towards the dorms, I was staying in. I’d stay away from Angelus Morelock if I were you... he will only bring you trouble and misfortune.
TWO
I AM AWOKEN FROM MY slumber to someone pounded loudly on my bedroom door. What?!
I growled in an annoyed voice. It felt like I had barley closed my eyes before the pounding started on my door.
It’s me,
a cool male voice shouted from the other side of my door. I have your schedule.
That’s nice,
I yawned as I untangled myself from the blankets and sat up in bed. Just slid it beneath the door and I’ll get it-
The next thing I knew, Exley opened the door and entered my bedroom. What the hell?
I screeched as I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and stood up. I could have been naked, you know?
Thankfully, you were not,
Exley replied dryly, not amused by my joke as he started at me. Why aren’t you dressed in your uniform?
he ordered, giving me the look. I came to take you to get your books.
There’s a uniform dress code here?
I groaned, making a face at a white uniform hanging up in the closet. They left the closet door open, and I could see the skirt perfectly. All right,
I scoffed with a forced laugh. "I am not being caught dead wearing that." I vocalized, pointing my index finger at it.
Why not?
He demanded, giving me a strange look.
Because it’s a freaking skirt!
I shrieked, not caring who I woke up at this point.
So what?
He spoke, narrowing his eyes at me. Wear it, or else you will have to do yard duty,
he threatened. "And nobody around here likes to do yard duty."
Looks like I’m doing yard duty then,
I answered. That settles this argument, doesn't it?
You still have to wear the uniform,
Exley countered as he exited my room. You have five minutes to change before I come back and take you to get your books understood?
Yeah, whatever,
I uttered as he exited my room and closed the door behind him. Dunce.
I said under my breath as I crossed the room and grabbed the uniform off the hanger.
You know I heard, that right?
He whispered from the other side of the door. I quickly undressed myself and tossed my pair of jeans and my black T-shirt on my bed. I put on my strapless white bra and a clean pair of panties. I slid the silk white blouse over my head. I slid my arms into the sleeves and pulled it across my body. I put on the skirt and the door opened. You look like a hot mess,
Exley spoke as he walked over to where I was standing. He tucked my blouse into my shirt before he smoothed it out. I felt his hands rub against my body and I had to hold my composure as I was getting turned on by this slight gesture. Hey, I am a teenage girl. I have needs that only a guy could fulfill. He took the long-sleeved blazer from the hand and helped me put it on.
I’m far from hot,
I replied under my breath. I know how to dress myself you know?
I replied as he buttoned the four buttons closed.
Clearly, you don’t,
he muttered as he let his fingers linger near the top button that was revealing the top of my breasts. I glanced up at him and he was staring down at my breasts. Stop putting yourself down,
he whispered. Have more confidence in yourself.
You uh,
I urged, feeling my face turn a bright red color from embarrassment. It still surprised me he had given me a compliment. Done staring at my girls?
Get your boots on,
he spat as he snapped out of his dazed look and walked over to the other bed, which was in my room and sat down on it. I’ll wait right here for you and we can walk out together.
I walked to the dresser and opened the top drawer. Reaching into the drawer, I pulled out a clean pair of white socks. I closed the drawer, and I sat down on the edge of my bed and crossed my leg over. Exley turned his head away to give me some privacy. I caught him glancing at me occasionally, abut I ignored him. I unzipped my knee-high white shiny boots and slid my feet into them before zipping them up. They were also part of the uniform attire. I stood up and examined myself. Do I look all right?
"You look like every other girl who attends Acadia Academy," he murmured as he stood up and walked towards the door. I dashed over to my dresser and picked up my black hairbrush through my long hair. My hair had been straightened from the previous day, so I looked fine today. I grabbed my black liquid eyeliner and drew a quick line across the top of my eyelids. Grabbing my red eyeshadow, I popped it open, carefully running my index finger around and closed my eyes as I slid my finger across my eyelids. I set it down on my brown dresser and walked towards Exley.
Ready now?
He asked with a slight frown on his handsome face.
Absolutely,
I acknowledged as I forced a smile. After you.
Let’s go,
he responded as he exited my bedroom. I rushed out of my room and caught up with him.
So,
I burst out as we walked down the silent corridor. Our shoes echoed off the silent walls. I didn’t see my roommate last night or this morning.
He met me in silence as
