Red System Rises - Bria Lexor

    ONE

Idid not know what to expect when we arrived at Scythe City. It was the birthplace of my grandmother Lyric Lockheart. They had injected her with the Anti-Virus Blue Pyron as a baby. It bonded with her blood. The Red System Corp. tried to get her, but she fled to the L.P.V.O. as a mundane. There she met Chaos, and he turned her and had my mother Zyra Falls.

The black van we were sitting quietly in came to an abrupt stop, snapping me out of my thoughts. We’re here, Chaos spoke. Remember, he went on. We don’t know what the carnage may look like... you might have to kill a couple of zombies or creatures.

One more thing, Lyric spoke. Try not to get bitten or you’ll turn into a zombie, and we’ll have to kill you.

Zombies? They couldn’t be serious, could they? That type of shit only happened in the movies or in books. Zombies weren’t real.

    But vampires are?

I rolled my eyes and shook the thought away. Of course, all creatures are real. They taught us as young children were real! I was a vampire queen of the Moroi Court! Someone pulled the door open, and we all piled out of the van. I had transformed into Hell’s Guardian, and the Demonic Guardians were all here with me. It was hella weird seeing Alesti grown up. I had just given birth a few weeks ago to my first child and now she is Seven years old! Turns out, Future Alesti traveled back in time to the present and needed our help to claim Scythe City in order to save her future. Told you, nothing made sense to me anymore.

My name is Zora Westfall. I am Seventeen, with long dark hair, emerald, green eyes, slim but athletic body frame. I am the new Vampire Queen of the Moroi Court in the Light Region. My husband, Exley Winchester, is also a vampire. He and his twin sister Velzy Wick were born to a father in the Dark Region, and a mother in the Light Region.

I just rolled with it. We trudged up the eerily silent street. It was early morning. The sun was rising on the horizon. The city looked abandoned. Cars lined both sides of the streets, businesses were open yet, not we could find a living soul. Stay alert, Tork whispered as we walked cautiously, looking around like paranoid mice in a cage waiting for the predator to attack us. We don’t know what could lurk around here.

It reeks of death, Rhydian spoke as he wrinkled his nose in the air. I don’t think I’ll be able to get the stench out of my nose for weeks after this.

We were about to cross in front of an alley when a woman came stumbling out. She was walking like she had been drunk. Relief suddenly filled me as I was about to walk over to her. Tork grabbed my wrist and pulled me back. Wait, she hissed. I think she’s infected.

How can you tell? Velzy asked.

The woman raised her head and looked at us. That’s when I saw it. Part of her cheek was peeling off the side of her face. The lifeless whites of her eyes rolled to the back of her head were staring at us. She was moaning like a mindless zombie.

A loud gunshot pierced the silence, and I hit the woman in the middle of her forehead. She dropped to the ground and was motionless. A walking corpse, Tork spoke as she lowered her Hunter’s weapon to her side. Never thought I’d see the day where the dead would roam the earth.

I quickly regained my composure. I starred at the lifeless corpse as dark scarlet blood oozed out of her wound and pooled onto the sidewalk. More hungry moans were coming from around us.

Shit! I spoke as I pulled out my Valistik sword. Start killing them! Everyone picked a zombie and started shooting. I ran up to a guy with his neck broken. I cocked it to the side at an awkward angle. He had a gaping hole in his stomach, dry blood caked his torn clothing. I raised my sword and swung it forward. I sliced his head clean off his body. The body crumpled to the ground, while the head rolled beneath a back tire of an SUV.

How the hell were there so many zombies? I thought Zyra had stopped the Red System Corp. years ago? Someone had been keeping their terrible crimes alive all these years later. And I was going to kill them.

Mom! Alesti screamed as I snapped out of my thoughts. I looked up in time to see a female walking towards me. She held her arms out in front of her as she approached me. I raised my sword and sliced her in half. The upper part of her body slid down and hit the ground. I lifted the heel of my boot and stomped down hard on
