Mobster Gumbo - Michael Polillo
Sal Corbucci stormed into the Club. He went straight past Fat Louie, the stripper with a lazy eye, and the two old men who were in there at 9 a.m. on a Wednesday. His family owned the Club and everyone in Brixton knew it. That's why they had the confidence to give it the name it has. The Corbuccis were the leading mafia family in town and no one would be able to bring them down.
Sal headed for the back office where he kicked open the door and slammed it behind him. Sitting at a table was his cousin Louie. Now this is a different Louie from the fat fuck who made sure the customers didn't get too rowdy. This one had some actual brains in him. He was sitting at the table checking the books before Sal interrupted him. He closed the folder and stared back at his cousin.
You're in a mood already, I see,
said Louie.
Sal sat down in the chair next to him as angry as someone could.
You could say that,
he said.
You want me to ask what's wrong or are you merely getting out some anger?
No, sure, I'll say. You see we got a big fucking problem. My father's lighter is missing and if we don't get back before he gets back in town then we're in a hell of a lot of trouble.
You mean you're in a lot of trouble.
And if I am then who do you think I'm going to take it out on?
Louie laughed and scratched his head.
I'm guessing you want me to help you look for it, right?
said Louie.
You're damn right I do,
said Sal.
Don't you think I have anything more important to do?
he said looking down at the folder.
"That can wait. Come on Louie, I'm only asking you because I know you can keep your mouth shut that it was lost
