Being Bold

About this ebook
Being Bold is the next in line of inspirational and motivational books written by American author and novelist, Richelle E. Goodrich. In the same vein as Smile Anyway, Making Wishes, and Slaying Dragons, Being Bold includes quotes, poetry, and a few short stories. Enjoy a profound thought for every day of the year, including the popular following:
"Life made me an actor from birth. The world, darling, is not my stage but my audience."
"Don't sink too deep into yourself. That is the secret to happiness."
"Friends make everything easier. If you want to succeed at a challenge, involve your friends. They have an amazing capacity to lighten physical, emotional, and mental burdens by simply being there."
"Life can be awful. Life can be ugly.
And still there are those who smile at the darkness, anticipating the beauty of an eventual sunrise."
"Yes, love is a super power. It is the ultimate super power."
"When a monster grows quiet and crumbles to the ground weeping, you feel sorry for him. You may approach with caution and hope, whispering words of peace. But in the morning he will rise to his full height, roaring and stomping and baring his sharp teeth because he is, after all, a monster."
This book was written to be used for daily inspiration and motivation.
Richelle E. Goodrich
Richelle E. Goodrich has been writing poetry, short stories, and novels since her debut in April 2012. In her twenties, she graduated from Eastern Washington University with bachelor's degrees in liberal studies and natural science / mathematics education, but she has always had a strong love of the arts. Along with writing original stories and poetry, Richelle sketches, paints, plays some piano and guitar, keeps a running blog site, and has acted in theatrical plays. Her quotes have been published in numerous places including the Oxford Philosophy Being Human course book, in eight separate Chicken Soup for the Soul books, in a Revlon magazine advertisement campaign, and on a television episode of ALONE (season 7 episode 3.) Richelle's written works include: Smile Anyway, Making Wishes, Slaying Dragons, Being Bold, Hope Evermore, A Heart Made of Tissue Paper, The Tarishe Curse, Secrets of a Noble Key Keeper, Dandelions: The Disappearance of Annabelle Fancher, and a six-book series referred to as the Harrowbethian Saga. This author describes herself beautifully in the following quote: "I like bubbles in everything. I respect the power of silence. In cold or warm weather, I favor a mug of hot cocoa. I admire cats—their autonomy, grace, and mystery. I awe at the fiery colors in a sunset. I believe in deity. I hear most often with my eyes, and I will trust a facial expression before any accompanying comment. I invent rules, words, adventures, and imaginary friends. I pretend something wonderful every day. I will never quit pretending."

A timid act may be more bold
than one would first assume,
for whispering truth is braver
than to silently resume.

JANUARY
—Bold is determined. —
JANUARY 1ST
The worst day is always the first day. Changing a habit or instigating something new is toughest at the start. By means of repetition, however, these new habits develop. They are strengthened in the course of familiarity.
JANUARY 2ND
A vital part of the journey is the beginning. It is perhaps the most vital part.
JANUARY 3RD
Your choices and efforts, be they small or grand, mold and define who you are. Poor choices and minimal effort will result in the poorest version of you. Mediocre choices combined with doing just-enough-to-get-by will create a mediocre you. To be the best version of yourself, to reach your greater potential, make the very best choices possible. Put forth your highest efforts in everything. Be intentionally productive with the time you have. Work to do your best!
JANUARY 4TH
If you invest nothing, the reward is worth little.
JANUARY 5TH
Real change
involves real planning
and real commitment.
Real change
demands real work
and real effort.
Real change
requires real sacrifice
for real achievement.
Real change
is really hard
but really worth it.
JANUARY 6TH
Friends make everything easier. If you want to succeed at a challenge, involve your friends. They have an amazing capacity to lighten physical, emotional, and mental burdens by simply being there.
JANUARY 7TH
Know what your objective is. Anything that does not contribute to that objective is unnecessary; let those things go.
JANUARY 8TH
Don’t quit because you are not good enough, keep going because you are not good enough yet. You don’t quit driving halfway to your destination because you are not there, you keep driving because you are not there yet.
You keep driving until you get there.
You keep trying until you are good enough.
JANUARY 9TH
Work for your dreams and then watch as, little by little, obstacles crumble to make way for success.
JANUARY 10TH
Success is the result of moving forward. Concentrate on that fact, regardless of how slow or fast, how poorly or well things seem to be going. If you are moving forward, you are succeeding.
JANUARY 11TH
Real, true, key success is honestly liking yourself.
JANUARY 12TH
If you own the story, you can write every chapter in the book.
Own your life; write the story the way you want it to read.
JANUARY 13TH
Believing in yourself is enough, but it sure is nice when another's kind words of encouragement kiss your ear. There is genuine strength in verbal expressions of support.
JANUARY 14TH
Impossible and extremely difficult are as unalike as the desert and the ocean.
JANUARY 15TH
Even snails make progress. Just be sure your progress is in the direction you want to go.
JANUARY 16TH
Remember: life is a test, so there will always be problems to work through. Lots and lots of challenging story problems.
JANUARY 17TH
Your failure or success is nothing compared to your integrity throughout the process.
JANUARY 18TH
Success, even happiness, is not about doing what is easy, it is about doing what is right... especially when it is not easy.
JANUARY 19TH
Your future self will either love you or hate you for the days you are presently living. Be wise. Be honest. Be kind. Be merciful. Be good. The consequences of your actions will matter in years to come to a much greater degree than you now comprehend.
JANUARY 20TH
Your life is not a simulation; it's the real game. Play wisely.
JANUARY 21ST
The wants, needs, feelings, hours, hopes, and dreams of everyone around you bear equal weight to those of your own. Neither mine nor yours are greater. Ingrain that into your understanding.
JANUARY 22ND
Failure is respectable. Quitting is not. If you have worked hard and failed after giving every effort to make use of the opportunities available—so be it. At least you fought with all your might to make it otherwise. That is deserving of respect.
JANUARY 23RD
You have no idea how many thousands of times I have whispered to myself don’t give up.
JANUARY 24TH
Even in our imperfection, good things—even great things—are accomplished with God’s help.
JANUARY 25TH
Don’t you dare get discouraged. Don’t you dare believe that failure is permanent or insurmountable.
JANUARY 26TH
When you delete impossible
from your thinking, you give yourself permission to imagine, to believe, to try, and to accomplish phenomenal things.
JANUARY 27TH
Don’t quit; keep trying.
Don’t stop; keep moving.
Don’t despair; keep believing.
There is a way. There is always a way.
JANUARY 28TH
It is okay to alter your original plans. To try means to learn. To learn means to grow. To grow means to change.
JANUARY 29TH
Be proud of yourself. Be proud that your heart and intentions are good. Be proud of the fact that you are trying.
JANUARY 30TH
You have failed,
they said.
No, no, I am not yet finished.
So they waited while I continued,
persistent, knowing life was ongoing.
Failure cannot roost in a soul that refuses to remain at rest.
