    Chapter ONE

    Jimi Leroy

Sitting down at the dining table, Jimi reached his hand down for the fork beside his plate. He moved the fork into his fingertips. Jimi lifted the fork up from the kitchen table. He felt his mother’s breath slither over her lip towards her plate below. She held a fork before her mouth.

Opening up her mouth, Jimi’s mother took a bite of her breakfast. She held a smile on her face as her eyes darted across the table towards her son. She knew something was on his mind. Jimi’s mother took a deep breath in. She lowered her fork down to the edge of her plate.

Sue asked him. What’s on your mind.

Nothing. Jimi let out a sigh. Just work.

Moving his hand over the metal print on the edge of his fork. Jimi felt his mother’s silence. She was staring at him. Waiting for him to spill to her about what was worrying his mind. He knew she wouldn’t let him drop it.

Fine. He caved in. I got some information that the confederation are planning on using an underground connection between the cities. Jimi kept his head up as he spoke to his mother. It was made during the ancient times.

The sound of a gasp escaping from his mother’s lips, told Jimi she was surprised. Figures. His mother sighed. I’ve thought they might have used the same method for the assassin to transport into our nation.

Do you know anything about the underground connections- He wondered if his mother could answer a few of his questions. -that could be useful?

Not really. She smiled. But I’ll let you know if there’s anything I can find. Her eyes closed for
