Chapter Four
Jimi Leroy
Sitting on a stool by the kitchen counter, Jimi looked over at Clay. He heard his teammates talking behind them. He felt the room go silent. Jimi felt his teammate beginning to look in his direction. He wondered if his teammates were wondering who he was. He heard the tone in Skylar’s voice. She sounded annoyed with her participation in their team.
Jimi thought back to the first time he met Skylar. He walked into an elevator with his white cane collapsed in his hand. He seemed to be lost before meeting her.
His head lifted from the kitchen counter. Jimi felt a drift of a breeze go over his fingertips. He connected with the breeze. The breeze went drifting past Jimi towards the lounge behind him.
Washing over Sandra’s shoulders, the breeze danced over her skin. Jimi felt his head turning in the direction of the breeze. He had a feeling the breeze was drifting over the chair to get his attention back to his teammates.
The breeze moved around the room, reaching each corner. Jimi felt the wind searching for a way out. He wondered if the breeze was stuck, like him.
Clay moved his hand onto Jimi’s hand. He felt the warmth from his fingertips on his skin. He looked over at Clay’s face. Jimi knew what he was trying to tell him. He let a sight slither over his lips.
We need to find them.
Jimi placed his hand up to his forehead. We’ll find Shiloh after the mess.
Skylar seemed surprised. What, did you say something?
Jimi smirked. We’re focused on Lei and Ken, for the time being.
He told them. Shiloh’s probably not with them.
Iva questioned him. Are you sure?
Kind of.
He nodded his head. By the sounds of the video, Shiloh’s not a part of their plan. From what I can tell.
Clay wondered. Why did they free her, then?
Raven seemed to understand what Jimi was getting at. No idea.
She shook her head. From what I can tell.
Her eyes looked around the room at their teammates. But I’m thinking they took her with them, to make sure she wouldn’t talk to anyone about what happened.
Leo sighed. Got her.
He stopped moving his hand before his eyes. She’s on a train going across Staten Island.
Leo placed his hand up to his chin. There are no signs of the others with her.
His aunt stood up from the sofa. I guess that explains it.
She looked across the room at Raven. You were right.
She winked at her. She’s not with them.
The sound of Leo’s aunt walking away from the sofa, echoed around the room. Jimi guessed she was done with babysitting them. He heard her heading towards the staircase to the rooftop. He wondered if she was getting ready to leave.
I’ll be on my way now.
She told the group. It sounds like, you can take over from here.
Heading out of the room, Leo’s aunt seemed to be leaving the group in their hands. He wondered if his mother had ordered her to stay with them.
So.
Skylar wondered from her chair. We need to find Lei and Ken.
Found them.
Leo let a sigh slither over his lips. They’re in Downtown Manhattan.
Drew crossed his arms over his chest. Really?
He seemed surprised. Why would they be there?
To cause a scene.
Skylar explained. Lei and Ken are the most dangerous. We know this.
She reminded the team of another accident, which involved the two of them. Skylar moved her hand onto the screen before her. She made the screen appear on the coffee table for their teammates to see.
The screen shimmered before their eyes. Jimi saw the same blur before his eyes. He wondered if the screen was showing something for them to see.
Skylar told them. A few years ago, in the Western Colonies, Lei showed the strength of her power in an old city called Las Vegas.
On the screen, Lei stood in the middle of a street. She raised her hand in front of her. She seemed to be gathering the light from around her. Lei sent out a beam of light from the palm of her hand. She let the beam of light erupt across the street.
The light flickered over the street, shattering each holographic ad in her sight. Lei watched as the beam disappeared from her sight. She saw how the beam struck the top of a tower close to the edge of the street.
We later found out that Ken and his brother, Frank, were there to save them.
She explained to her teammates. My company was given orders to clean up the damages caused by them.
Skylar kept her voice calm as she spoke to them. We weren’t told what caused the damage at first. But after looking at the surveillance of the area. We saw that Lei, Ken and Frank were fighting among themselves.
Ok.
Iva sighed. But why?
No one knows.
Sandra told them. "Besides the three
