    Erotica - Sapna Patel

    Neighbour’s Daughter

Our neighbourhood has always been a wonderland. It makes you wonder how people get along without having to know much about each other. But I guess, sometimes it is better that way than a neighbourhood where everyone gossips about everyone’s secrets.

Personally, I would find it freaky if someone knew me too well. Call me whatever you want to call me. Label me with whatever but I think it is better to be guard your personal information because people might use the information against you.

I had a girlfriend who I was perfectly honest with. I was a virgin and she was experienced. She was my first and when she found out that I was never with any other woman, she broke up with me and told the rest of the school.

See? If I had known how to be more reserved, I could have prevented myself from that awful experience.

Personal details are too tricky. If you give them away, they might find themselves back to you in a different form; one that is worse than your worst imagination. I started being reserved and to be fair, I did not ask too many questions from the people whom I met. I would skip the unnecessary details, the ones they ask you in curriculum vitae perhaps, or a census survey. I would rather know things like what do you think about this and that? Or what do you think could have happened if this or that happened? Or what was the most influential thing you think you have done? Or who killed Roger Rabbit? Things like that.

Not everyone share my principle of reservations. But whenever I come across kindred spirits, I would feel elated as if I was some philosopher who knew how to rationalize.

It is the absence of things that makes you wonder. And what makes you wonder thrills you. Sometimes, the thrill of not knowing who you are talking to is more exciting than having a chat with people you have known all your life.

It is always the mystery and uncertainty of things that make you feel good about things because you develop a sense of hope. There is something to look forward to and that is the discovery of something. It could either be good or bad but it would keep you alive in your thoughts, for instance.

This is why I would love to make new friends without asking them their names or any other personal details. I would get on to the interests and their views in life. I get to correspond with the different types of people without judging them and most of them I find interesting. It doesn’t matter
