    CHAPTER ONE

    ORDER IN CREATION – GEN. 1: 1 – 2: 3

    INTRODUCTION

    The narrative that God created the world out of nothing is a mythological belief that is central to all the major religions of the world, especially, Islam, Christianity and Judaism. Indeed, the medieval Jewish philosopher, Maimonides, felt it was the only concept that the three religions shared. The creation stories are found in the first two chapters of the Book of Genesis. The Elohim created the heavens and the earth in six days. God blessed, sanctified the seventh day and rested - Genesis 1:1–2: 3.

    Tradition attributes the writing of the first five books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy to Moses which is referred to as Torah and called the Pentateuch by Biblical Scholars. The opening phrase of Genesis 1:1 reads In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. The word bara is translated as created in the English language. The statement describes the condition of the world when God began the creation proper. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

    DAY 1: THE CREATION OF LIGHT

    According to the Bible passage, Gen. 1:2, the earth was in a deplorable condition which called for re-creation, replenishing and divine intervention. These were the features of the first created earth;

    1.It was without form,

    2.It was void,

    3.Darkness was upon the face of the deep,

    4.And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

    The first recorded act of God was the creation of light which illuminates the planet earth. The differentiation brought about order into the evening before morning. God exercised the power in His word, meaning that all seen creatures came into being by His divine command. God is the king of kings who commands for things to happen.

    And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. This was a divine order through speech made by God. The next verse makes a remark, And God saw the light that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness. The declaration revealed that the quality of the newly created light was good. Verse 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

    ADVANTAGES AND THE USES OF LIGHT

    God made the first creation beautiful and admirable when the usefulness of light is being considered. According to Eccl.11:7, Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun. Have you ever imagined how life could have been without light? No vegetation or fruit can survive without the absorption of light. The life of a living thing is perfected by the influence of light. The Bible makes us to understand that Jesus Christ is the light of the world in John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. These and many more are noticed to confirm that, truly God is an accurate planner. More of the benefits of light can be found in my book titled Home Without Crisis, Volume four.

    1.God used light to differentiate between darkness.

    2.Light revealed other things in the void planet earth.

    3.It revealed the beauty of nature.

    4.The light brought about the day.

    DAY 2: THE CREATION OF THE FIRMAMENT

    According to Genesis chapter 1:6-8, God separated heavens from the earth by His word. It reads, And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. The creation in the second day took another dimension different from that of the first day. The creation is a solid dome which separates the earth below from the heavens and the waters above. And God remarked and called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

    ELEMENTS IN THE FIRMAMENT

    The separation in the firmament brought about two definite essentials of life which are water and air. Obviously, without these two elements, living things cannot survive. Imagine the essentiality of these two elements to mankind. Helen White writes Human beings can live for six weeks without food, few days without water but few minutes without air. Let us examine the importance of the two;

    1.Water

    Water is a universal solvent that is used for different purposes in promoting good health in the body. Virtually, water is used in all spheres of life such as in the industry, for domestic, clinical, religious purposes, etc. When enough clean water is taken, it nourishes the body system. Not until someone is thirsty should he take water. Thirst only tells that the body has already lost a considerable percentage of water required for optimum performance. Therefore, drinking good water at intervals is the best, by this, disease and sickness would be flushed out of the body system.

    More importantly, it is good to start the day with two glasses of water especially one hour before food. It is advised never to drink chlorinated water because it is poisonous to the body and it also destroys the immune system that fights against bacterial.

    Secondly, the human body is engaged in physical activities every day. The sweat blocks the pores which outlet the body wastes and the closure triggers the body to develop undesirable conditions. Therefore, God knew that daily bath with clean warm or cold water would perform an important function in the body especially when one is feeling sick or weak before creating it.

    2.Air

    Air is a matter that cannot be held, touched or affirmed but the effect is obvious as it seldom moves. Human body and plants require enough air known as oxygen and carbon dioxide respectively to function maximally on daily basis. The way we breath and the quality of air we breathe can substantiate how we look, feel, resist disease and how long we live. Man can live for days without water and food but cannot survive a day without good air (oxygen) both day and night.

    Sleeping in a well ventilated room assists in cubing sickness or feverish conditions. Therefore, avoid poisonous smoke like mechanical or vehicular gases. God made things beautiful because good respiration encourages;

    1.The nerves to work effectively,

    2.Stimulates appetite

    3.Improves digestion

    4.Induces verbal sound

    5.Refreshes sleep

    ADVANTAGES OF THE FIRMAMENT

    The beauty of the second day creation manifested in its advantages to the newly created earth. God made the firmament;

    1.To provide an abode for the populated luminary galaxy of stars.

    2.To part the waters which were above the firmament

    3.To demonstrate His glory and majesty.

    4.To consecrate a place for celestial and terrestrial beings.

    DAY 3: LAND AND VEGETATION

    According to the narrative in Genesis 1:9-13, "And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God
