    GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO THE BOOK

The New Testament defines the church in terms of the fulfillment of Old Testament hopes and patterns through a relationship to all the three Persons of Godhead, brought about by the mediatorial ministry of Jesus Christ. The church is seen as the family and flock of God, the body and bride of Christ, the temple of the Holy Spirit Ilumina, (2009).

However, the church is regarded as the separated people from the world, who through their faith in the message of salvation brought to them by Jesus Christ, which was perfected on the cross and through His resurrection power made available to all mankind. Having accepted the message and made the necessary amendments, God expects them to be involved in one service or the other for the sake of others that are still in the dungeon of sin.

But it is a pity that many do not understand this obligation. Though, they join a local assembly and find something doing for the Lord. Some that had been saved are ignorant of their duties as members of the body of Christ. We are saved to serve, not to be idle but to reproduce and make a disciple of another person. A saved member of a local assembly is expected to be fruitful after his conversion; this is the primary duty as a believer and worker in the vineyard of God.

Adam was apportioned an assignment in the Garden of Eden according to Gen. 2:15. And The LORD God took the man, and put him in the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. God has purposed man to be industrious and dutiful through the process of divine wisdom and guidance. But Adam abandoned the duty post; the deceiver (Satan) craftily entered the Garden and deceived his wife. The disobedience changed the intent of the assignment from being a thing of pleasure to that of suffering.

The redemptive work of Christ on the cross has changed the concept of Christian ministry into a medium whereby one can receive blessings from God when it is done with a pure motive. Research has shown that there is a lot of confusion in the making of a Church worker, especially in the areas of their duties and requirements for efficiency. The reason for this confusion and failure is not farfetched in our assemblies today.

    ###

    CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION TO THE OFFICE OF A CHURCH WORKER

A church worker could be referred to as a full or part time service person, someone who participates in the physical and spiritual activities in the vineyard of God. They could be included on the church payroll or may not be financially paid for the services rendered. According to the complete Christian Dictionary, an example of church worker is a member of Choir, an Usher, Sunday School Teacher, an Interpreter, Deacon or Deaconess, Group Leader, Minister of the Gospel etc.

In every religion, the role of a worker is imperative and cannot be substituted because of their importance. When a church worker is fully trained, he reproduces and his anointing is being transferred to another person for a better service. God uses diverse workers for the edification of the church of God according to Apostle Paul in Eph. 2: 20 – 22.

WORKERS IN THE VINEYARD OF GOD

As earlier said, the role of a church worker is very important in the administration of the church of God. There are many positions that must be handled by trained and qualified personnel, so that the church would be run without problem. Let’s examine it from the time of Adam and Eve; God had been fixing up individuals to fill up a gap at a definite time. Prophet Isaiah writes on the necessity of somebody filling up the vacant gap – Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. There is need for somebody to handle vital functions in the church of God. Some of the functions that may need an efficient person to handle would be highlighted one after the other.

THE ROLES OF A CHURCH WORKER

A church worker has a big role to play without compromise in the development of the Church of God. Their functions must be carried out without bias.

    1.VISITATION TO MEMBERS

One of the essential duties of the church of God is visitation. This
