Matthews unpacks the Scriptures from our cultural baggage on this topic of heaven and our return to the garden of Eden. Many current pastors and scholars, such as N.T. Wright, have identified the problem of our culture's obsession with heaven as an eternal destiny. In a clear and engaging way he explains the Bible's storyline pointing to a Christian's real purpose. His book is easier and clearer to read than any others on this topic. Plus i noticed profits go to charity. Brilliant informative book

This book " As It Is In Heaven " was borne out of the unsettling confusion about heaven and the afterlife, which seems to befuddle most Christians, I meet.

The book uses both recent and orthodox scholarship to examine the popularly held view that Heaven is our eternal home.  In short, the purpose of this book is an attempt albeit a modest one, to educate our generation, on what the Bible actually teaches us about Heaven, and its relationship to the renewed Earth, at the return of Jesus Christ.

I’ve applied the Goldilocks Formula to this book ............ not too hot, not too cold, but hopefully, just right.

By which I mean my aim is to make this book concise enough, so that it can be read in less than two hours.

Yet without omitting any of the important material and arguments that impinge on our subject of ‘Heaven and the Afterlife’. And therefore, comprehensive enough to use as a reliable resource when discussing this topic with others.

The book is the fruit of many hours labour, late nights and every spare moment with my mind immersed in the complex and detailed, literary tomes of docent scholars.
