About this ebook

Overeating has become an eating disorder and is a psychological addiction similar to drugs and alcohol. The reason why so many diets fail is because the compulsion to overeat takes over and shuts down all logical reasoning. This book adds to the idea that it is possible to recondition your brain to stop overeating by focusing on your subconscious mind (primitive brain) instead of on your conscious mind (thinking brain).

Self-help for Overeating is a practical guide to help you manage your overeating impulses and cravings when you need it most in the privacy of your own home. Nine techniques shared in this book will speak directly to your subconscious mind (your primitive brain) and help you programme it with another reality, namely a choice not to overeat and to take greater care of your body and health.

    Overeating Self-Help - Emily Watson

    INTRODUCTION

Extra weight - whether it's physical, emotional, or spiritual - holds us back from our health and our potential. Overeating is a behavior caused by stress, depression, excitement, fun with friends, self-sabotage, and countless other feelings, emotions, and circumstances. There can always be an occasion to eat and overeat - Tara Stiles.

Food choices are everywhere and it has become impossible to ignore all the smells and sights, a situation which is especially hard for people who tend to overeat. Binge- and compulsive-eating disorders were added to the most recent version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-V) recognizing it as an actual eating disorder. Treatment of most DSM-V disorders is not about simple self-control and discipline because overeating is not the problem but the solution to a problem. Overeating is a psychological addiction similar to drugs and alcohol. This is also the reason why so many diets fail since the compulsion to overeat takes over and shuts down all logical reasoning. This book adds to the idea that it is possible to recondition your brain to stop overeating by focusing on your conscious mind (thinking brain) and subconscious mind (primitive brain).

Self-help for Overeating is a practical guide to help you manage your overeating impulses and cravings when you need it most in the privacy of your own home. Nine techniques shared in this book will speak directly to your subconscious mind (your primitive brain) and programme it with another reality, namely a choice not to overeat and to take greater care of your body and health.

To overeat is for many people a repeating cycle with episodes of eating healthier just to overeat again. This book will be helpful for all people who want to eat less and live a healthier life. All people overeat at some point in time, especially during the festive season or holidays. However, some people keep on eating until their stomachs are bloated and painful and then hate themselves for eating that much. There are various reasons why people overeat and it is important to understand why you tend to overeat and why you are using food to feel better.

Studies suggest that overeating is often a result of anxiety, low self-esteem, loneliness, poor self-image, depression and even boredom, amongst other things.  Overeating can also be the result of an underlying medical issue. Those readers with underlying health and or/ medical issues are urged to consult a medical practitioner or health care practitioner.

With the nine techniques in this book, you can change your mind about how you feel about your overeating habits and train yourself to eat less and to have fewer cravings. The book has six chapters.

Chapter 1 explains different types of overeating and symptoms.

Chapter 2 delves into the potential reasons why you overeat.

Chapter 3 points out why appetite suppressants could be dangerous for your health.

Chapter 4 explains how your mind works with references to your conscious and subconscious mind.

Chapter 5 provides nine techniques to instruct your subconscious mind to stop food cravings
