Stephanie Lewis-Houltzhouser
Stephanie has a large background in creativity. The cover of "Shadowed By Her Truth" is actually her very own photography. Listening to both of her parents, and brother being muscians always left a void of not being muscial herself. So writing poetry became the next best thing. Many components go into her poetry such as. Social anxiety, fear, heart break, disabilities, abuse and so on. Hoping others might find some peace to see they are not alone in the daily struggles.

Shadowed By Her Truth - Stephanie Lewis-Houltzhouser
Blinded
Blinded you are for what beauty you miss.
Your eyes only open for when it pleases you.
Entertaining your friends like I am your doll.
I am not a doll but a child.
A child of yours that you seem to forget.
A character in your game to show off in meaningless ways.
I am no toy, but your child that you use as a ploy.
A ploy to hurt those that you see fit.
A doll to make you look grand.
A character that you see fit in any given moment to use.
My childhood is slipping away for you are blinded.
Blinded to see who I really am.
Hidden
The girl that hides behind her long beautiful thick hair.
Those cheeks as she begins to turn red from words that she fears to speak. The girl who has a very loud mind, but nothing to say out loud.
The girl who feared for one to hear her speak.
Hiding in the shadows is where she will remain.
Watching and observing the rest of the world.
Taking everything in that is around her peeking beneath her long beautiful hair.
Hiding in her shadows hoping that they never see her.
If She
If she were to sit she was told to stand.
If she was silent she was told to speak.
If she spoke she was shut down.
If she wanted it, it was to be taken.
If only she was allowed to express herself she could then begin to let go.
Numb
Numb to the bones that nothing else matters.
If I show that I care it's ignored and turned to anger.
If I try to express it, it doesn't matter to the point of tears.
If I give compassion it's brushed off as if I'm crazy.
If I try to understand it's nothing but misery.
Numb to the bones as if my voice doesn't matter.
Numb to the bones as I'm done trying.
Numb to the bones, thinking that I'm doing you a favor for it to only turn to hatred.
I'm numb to the bones as there are no more tears to shed.
Numb to the bones of I can no longer feel to care.
Just Me
They look and they judge.
They look through, and tell you what label you are.
A label of you're this type of a person.
One person cannot be labeled, that’s like saying they already know you.
You don’t know me, you might think that you do but you do not.
I’m far from a label I am a person. I might look like someone you know, but I am not them.
I am an individual, and I am different.
No need to be scared of me I am but quiet.
I am a bit different but friendly.
I don’t think like you but I have ideas.
I might not agree with you but I’ll talk to you.
We may not click as friends, but know that we are not the same but I like you anyways.
I am Just me.
Deep Down
Deep inside she is feeling trapped.
Deep down she feels so much pain.
Deep down it’s hard to want to feel anything.
Deep down she has tried to forget how broken she really is.
Deep down she has always meant well, but she is shielded.
She needs to cry.
She needs to heal.
She needs to see she won’t always hurt.
She needs to quit running away, and
