Freddie Figg & the Zoo Zombies - DC Swain
One
This isn’t my fault!
Freddie Figg insisted as he fetched his backpack from where he had dropped it earlier. This is all just a giant misunderstanding.
His teacher, Miss Brown, was not amused, and she didn’t seem like she believed him at all, which wasn’t a surprise. She led Freddie towards the door to get him out of the spider monkey exhibit. Behind them, a zookeeper pried open the wooden crate that Freddie had been nailing the monkeys into.
Then whose fault was it?
she demanded. You were the only one in there who wasn’t a monkey.
That was a very good point! But it was also part of the problem.
Freddie stepped through the door with Miss Brown right behind him. The rest of the class was gathered a few yards away, and one of the chaperones was on the phone. Freddie was pretty sure she was calling his mom.
The spider monkeys were all zombies!
Freddie told his teacher, and he nodded his head quickly as he said it. Even the baby one! It had red eyes and everything.
Miss Brown groaned and shook her head in exasperation. Really, Freddie? Zombie spider monkeys? You need to get your head out of the clouds.
She turned Freddie toward the zoo’s main entrance and began to lead him in that direction. Do you even know how much trouble you’ve caused for the zoo workers?
"I was trying to save the zoo workers, Freddie corrected her.
I’m telling you the truth, just listen!"
