    This is not my fault! Freddie Figg insisted as he stared up at his teacher, Miss Brown. In front of him, several dinosaurs worth of bones were piled on the floor, and dust floated gently through the air like a curtain. On the far side of the room, the doors were wedged shut and bulged outward like a dented soda can.

    A maintenance worker went to go get the door open, even if it meant unscrewing the hinges, and Miss Brown groaned and covered her face with her hands. For a moment, she didn’t say anything or move, but finally she sighed and dragged her hands down her face. She didn’t look any less unhappy afterwards, but she did at least look a little calmer.

    You’re going to come with me, she told him firmly, and you are going to explain to me just whose fault this disaster is. Right now, you’re the only suspect. She placed one hand on her hip, and she pointed her other hand towards the doors the maintenance worker was opening, just in time for the worker to get one of them unhinged. He pulled that door aside, and Miss Brown pointed a second time, her expression determined. She was not going to be argued with.

    Freddie heaved a sigh and walked around the pile of bones slowly, dragging his feet as he did.

    "Now, Freddie, Miss Brown demanded. And start talking while you’re at it."
