Another damned day, I moan to my wife as I finish off my cup of coffee.  Sadie is also working to get her brew down before she leaves for the accounting office.  She has a big client to meet with today and our home is not in the best shape for receiving any sort of guest.

I’m sorry, my love, she says as she tiptoes and gives me a quick kiss on the cheek.  I wish we could just call in sick today and not go to work.

Let’s do it, I joke with her.  Come on, it’s been ages since either of us have done something like that.

Dalton, she laughs while shaking her head.  You know that we are too busy right now to just take off from work.  Besides, aren’t you wrapping up with that architect right now?

I grimace as I think about Jason Vanderlok.  He’s an old asshole, I tell my wife as I put my coffee cup down on the kitchen counter.  And he farts a lot.

"Farts a lot? she laughs.  Seriously?"

I kid you not, I begin as I try not to smile.  The guy farts at around ten o’clock every morning and then after lunch.  The only difference between the farts is that the one in the morning smells more like breakfast.  Sadie begins to laugh hysterically and spills some of her coffee on the kitchen floor.

Stop it!  My wife manages to put her coffee cup on the countertop before walking up to me and giving me a big hug.  Honey, we can’t skip work.

But, I am so damned tired of not having sex, I complain. 

The damned tired part is the problem, Dalton.  We both get home after dark and then we don’t feel like doing much more than eating dinner and watching a little television.  It’s the unfortunate side effect of having careers that are very successful.

Are we successful? I ask her.  I mean, sure, we have money, but we don’t have the time to spend that money.
