About this ebook

Nora was on business in London staying at a cheap hotel, feeling lonely after a messy divorce. James was a handsome young man on a business course, assigned to a company nearby, during a college break. Nora glanced at him on entering the small elevator, but that is all. He looked like a typical snooty British boy, thinking he was above everyone, and too good to talk to by the likes of her.

As an American abroad she thought she was better than him. At thirty-two she was too old for him, but the idea wasn't thought just felt. After two marriages, she thought of herself as experienced and in business she certainly was more experienced. Both marriages had been pretty awful, with little good to look back on. When last had she had sex? Why was she thinking that?

James was thinking about Janet, a girl in college, that he had never got around to talking to. neither spoke, until the lift suddenly halted. He had nothing to say to an old woman, but she had plenty to say to him. It was unfair to take her anger out on him, by being acerbic, but he was a man, and the only one close in the small space. They tried to contact maintenance, or anyone, but there was no response. It was going to be some time before they were rescued, and neither of them were happy to share the small space. Being a practical person, she told the stuffy young man to remove his jacket and jumper. They didn't have water, so dehydration was a danger to them both.

She had an important business meeting in morning, starting a new consultancy contract. Sleep was important, and she decided to stretch out on the floor to get some sleep. There was little room, so she told him to snuggle up. That was when the trouble started.

Be warned this is short story is a romance, with a happy ending.

Reading is a passion, both fiction and non-fiction. Writing is a hobby I've enjoyed for many years, and write anything and everything, though recently I've concentrated on world war 2 stories, science fiction, and erotica. Erotica has been more of a challenge than I thought. First it was realised I didn't know as much as first thought. The range of human sexuality is so wide, and often very particular. The same word or phrase in a story can turn someone on, and someone else off. Some women like a story where the female character is humiliated, in fantasy only, and others think it is terrible. It is very true that you can't satisfy all the people all the of the time, and sometimes only one or two readers will like a theme.A common theme of these stories is where a main character is mistaken for someone else, and continues the error from not wanting to be embarrassed. They may suffer greater humiliation from not correcting the mistake right at the beginning, and letting it spiral out of control. But then, it wouldn't be a story if they did the right thing. It is usual for the main character to grow stronger, get what they really want, or fall in love, in the end. Up until then they blunder around, trying to avoid a confrontation, being silly, and treated as though they are stupid, until the truth is revealed or they find it wasn't an accident, they wanted the situation to develop. Some inner need is revealed, and they grow to endorse it.There are other themes in my writing, but they are for you to discover.Don't forget writing is difficult and painful at times, so buying a book is some small reward to encourage a writer to continue. It is a form of recognition for all the hard work. So, thank you for sponsoring for my art, Gary

'Damn! I’m on holiday, I can’t spend valuable time stuck in a lift,' James exclaimed.

'You’re wrong young man,' Nora stated. 'One, you’re on vacation it's not a holiday. Two, this is an elevator not a lift. Three, WE are stuck not just you. We are definitely stuck,' she sighed, counting his errors on three fingers.

He glared back at her. If it had been, Janet, from college, instead of this old woman it would have been so much easier to take. Janet was the same age, eighteen, whereas this woman looked around thirty, even older. There were some similarities though. They were both blonde with large breasts, though he couldn’t think of anything else. The woman was an American, not an English rose, and she had a fuller figure, unlike Janet’s tall lithe frame.

He knew she was thin and athletic because he had watched her playing netball in the sports hall. He happened to be taking a short cut through that way, escaping a maths lecture. As soon as he looked through the window it was only Janet he could see among the team of
