The Rain Sermon: Le Sermon de la Pluie
()
About this ebook
Bilingual book in English and French
Through simplified character portraits, the poet presents life as an emotional image palette, exemplifying our human traits and idiosyncrasies. Positive social, ethical and environmental values are gently embedded as the author shows us variations of the world through differing perceptual eyes: those building up our inner pictures, and those prodding the outer world of our actions. There is a contemporary relevance in the themes explored, including an emphasis on self-worth and creative potential - as well as our interconnectedness with nature and our social interactions with others.
The strength and linguistic vibrancy of this work is achieved through its emotional incisiveness and by moulding fresh image from the texture of our universally-shared human experiences. A declarative and authorial voice intersperses with distilled moments, softer musings and sentimentality - prompting an awareness of our human emotions and the role they play in our personal development and also as a product of our internal schemes of self-preservation.
