A Nurse's Pocket Full of Rhymes - Grandma Kitty
Some are silly
Some are true
Some tell a story
Some tell you what to do!
It has been fun through the years to write down my thoughts in silly rhymes. Sometime I would write on a break at work and keep it in my pocket until I got home. In review, I found that I didn’t write about many people, pets or things I loved dearly, but often wrote of challenging situations to find solutions.
Sometimes I would write them in my head at three AM when sleep would not come.
Looking back I see all the day and nights I loved being a nurse, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. I have memories enough to keep me busy for years to come - as long a the Lord wills.
Growing up
I recall wanting to be a nurse when I was six years old after having my tonsils removed! My goal wa nurtured by the movie Inn of Sixth Happiness
. I often thought missionary work would be my future.!
A Wisconsin farm was my birth place.
I can still feel the warmth of the sun on my face.
So quiet; so many miles to see...
The smell of the clover fields were heaven to me.
Imagery gives a feeling of security with Mom and Dad and a sister there.
I loved the cows, pigs, chickens, and most of all the cats - I had not a care.
We moved to the city when I was eight.
To grow up in the fifties was absolutely great!
Hard work, good food, caring about others were the family’s priorities.
Wanting to be a nurse was inspiration early for me.
A Nursing Career
1060 - You can tell I was so excited! I only knew a small town - now it wa a big city for me- Milwaukee! My sister left for school at the same time. Our parents had quite the adjustment.
My things are packed- soon we will leave.
I’ll miss my family and my pets. Will I have time to grieve?
I wonder who my roommates will be?
Guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
