    Part 1: Poems

    PROPHETIC POEMS

    Soul-ly in Love

    (2006)

Precious You are to me. Before the sunrise I think of Thee.

Anything that doesn’t please You is displeasing to me because I am solely in love with You.

I watch Thee and You watch me and we laugh and dance our days away.

At night You hold me tight without any obscene thoughts in sight.

Defile my body You wouldn’t dare.

Guard my mind and heart and You’re right there because You’re truly in love with me.

When have we ever not dated? I can’t remember. We were introduced light-years ago.

We kissed (talked) for the first time at age four and I’ve been in love ever since.

You proposed to me sixteen years later and I became Your wife-to-be (committed).

Now that I am a wife to Thee I plan to love You forever.

I will stand alone to proclaim my love for Thee.

Dedicate my life to protect the home You have built for me (salvation).

Go against the grain to magnify Thy name. I am truly in love with Thee.

Pick up and walk away if You tell me so.

Wherever You lead me that’s where I’ll go because You gave your life for me.

How long I’ll know You? Eternally.

Five thousand years from now I’ll still love Thee because Ye first loved me.

Your name is the sweetest name I know.

Every knee shall bow to you. Every tongue shall confess that You are Lord.

So to be Your wife is truly an honor as You are King of all Kings!

If You fight, then we fight in a war I’ll never choose to ignore.

    Your enemy is my enemy.

Together we’ll fight, all while laughing and dancing our days away.

At night You’ll still hold me tight because You and I are both solely in love.

The feeling of falling in love with Jesus—the love story of God and me.

We are the bride of Christ.

    Jubilee

    (2005)

Life just ain’t what it used to be. It was all about the jubilee.

Laughing loud and dancing down. Standing proud with the rowdy crowd!

Until He called my daddy home.

Life ain’t what it used to be. I continued doing me.

We were married and so was he. And my husband’s lady, so was she.

And then my mother-in-law was gone.

Life ain’t what it used to be. Getting ready never fazed me.

I was young and in my prime. I ceased the moment it was my time.

Independent and of the world. Didn’t need God; I had my girls.

Until He called my best friend home.

Life ain’t what it used to be. If I had a boat I’d sail the sea.

I had no fear, some would say. You’re so ruthless, but even you, you’ve got your day.

I looked around and all was gone.

I’d become the frail ole lady at my home for I had slept and drunk my life away.

I stand in line and it’s my time. Hope He has mercy on my prime.

Grandmother said one day I’d see that the good ‘ole days wouldn’t last

And to my Bible I should have held fast.

Life sho’ ain’t what it used to be.

I stood in line weeping and dying and, hearing the gnashing of teeth,

    He turned my soul away.

    Time

    (2007)

    ECCLESIASTES 3:2

Time is so important, much more important than money: silver and gold.

Time is so dynamic. With time you gain wisdom, you learn, and grow old.

It takes time to heal and time to grow.

Time to love and time to know.

    In pregnancy, time to show.

    Everything in life takes time.

The finest wine becomes fine through time.

Boys and girls become dynamic and fine women and men, all through time.

    It all takes time.

I am willing to spend time with you, getting to know just who you are.

Whether you like your eggs omelet style or scrambled,

Your steak medium or well, your clothes folded or rolled.

I am willing to take time to see if, in the
