3 Lessons I Learned From My Dad That Will Change Your Life - Besweri Kamya
Dedication
I dedicate this book first and foremost to my Dad (may his soul rest in peace), my Mum, my 3 beautiful kids (Brina, Harvey & Brisa), my partner Hilda, my brothers Chris, George, Fred, Misu and sisters Miriam and Phoebe.
Introduction
We all learn so many life lessons right from birth until we take our last breath on this planet earth. We learn from our parents, teachers, authorities, people we look up to, our employers, friends, family, strangers and anyone we interact with. Not forgetting our best teacher: life experiences.
But in this book I’m going to share three lessons that I learned from my Dad that have had a tremendous impact on my life (and I must say that 1 of those lessons I learned the hard way) and this is the reason I’m the man; the Father of 3 children that I’m today and why I do what I do and certainly is the reason I have written this book.
I was born in Uganda in East Africa in the capital city called Kampala with 4 brothers and 2 sisters (myself being number 3 in the family). Even though we did not grow up with so much, I can say with all my heart that we were a very happy family like most African families are. We didn’t go to the most expensive schools and would classify our standard of living as falling in the middle-class family.
I went to primary & secondary school in Uganda. In 2002, the year I was supposed to go to the University I got a call from my brother Chris. He came to the UK in 1998 and was asking me to come and finish my studies in the UK.
Then on the 7th of September 2002 is when I landed in the UK to further my studies in Management Information systems. I hope this gives you a little background about myself.
Now I would like to share 3 lessons I learned from my Dad and how they have had a tremendous impact on my life. I promise if you apply these 3 lessons to your life, they will help you become the best version of yourself. Remember, I told you one of these lessons is the reason I do what I do. Again, these lessons may not make you money but one will help you start pursuing your goals and dreams. I call them your heartfelt desires that you have been putting off for one reason or another. So, tighten your seatbelt and let’s jump into these 3 lessons.
