I live in the English countryside with a loving spouse, two equally wonderful children and assorted pets who have their affectionate moments – usually when they’re hungry.I like to write adult-themed stories featuring realistic women coping with realistic situations: no vampires, zombies, aliens or eye-watering sexual gymnastics. Any sexual content is appropriate, realistic and fully consensual.Writing is an occasional pastime; my goal isn’t fabulous riches, but simply to entertain.

You had to admire the council’s way of thinking. The car park and bus station were at the bottom end of the High Street while the chain stores were at the top end. To get from one to the other you had to walk past all the small shops. It was perfectly planned to support the local shopkeeper.

Perfect in theory. In practice most of the independent shops had gone anyway, replaced by cafés and charity shops, estate agents and fashion accessory chains.

No butchers, no bakers. No candlestick-makers either, but they went centuries ago. No haberdashers or hardware stores. No choice but to use the supermarket.

So why was she inside the shop and closing the door behind her?

She froze. The racks of clothes, books and less identifiable objects muffled the noise from the street. The manageress smiled kindly
