Image result for ketoA ketogenic diet is a diet that is mainly beneficial to people who suffer from epilepsy. It’s not a cure, but it’s a perfect alternative to medications that are prescribed to epileptic children. The ketogenic diet is also referred to as either a ketosis diet or a keto diet. This diet is utilized by the liver in the body to produce ketones which are used up as energy.
The low carbohydrates facilitate this production of energy by the body which is an alternative when there is a short supply of glucose, blood sugar in the body. It is important to note that the production of ketones is only possible if you take in small amounts of carbohydrates as well as protein moderately. However, blood sugar can also be obtained from excess protein conversion. A ketogenic diet constitutes high-fat contents, moderate protein, and very low carbs. This means a ketogenic diet can basically be obtained from animal foods that are fatty and vegetables that are fibrous and have low-starch.
The keto diet is known to be a hard diet to follow, it is a diet that needs a lot of practice, and understanding about the overall objective. The toughest part of this diet is its restrictive nature. When you take up this diet, you are expected to weigh all foods to a 10th of a gram when preparing meals. You are also not allowed to eat anything that has not been prescribed by a dietician.
A vegan can also opt to take up a ketogenic vegan diet. A vegan is a person who prefers to eat plants such as potatoes, kale,
