Jacqueline La-Touche
Towards the end of writing ‘Crossing Rivers Climbing Mountains, Building Bridges’, Jacqueline discovered her gift for writing poetry, which she never knew that she had. She was able to write a great collection of poems, which she put together in her second book, ’Soul Searching From The Heart‘. Jacqueline now believes that if she had not found the strength to write her first book, she would not have been able to recognise the creative gift she had, in writing poetry. Even writing her book, and having the name author as a title, she did not recognise, as a great achievement. Having the ability to write about life through poetry, she truly believes is a gift, from God. Jacqueline’s poetry continues to grow from strength to strength, and has adapted its own unique style, which shows in each of her poems.

Soul Searching From The Heart, is the follow up to Crossing Rivers, Climbing Mountains Building Bridges, I started writing Soul Searching From The Heart, whilst I was still in the middle of writing Crossing Rivers, and I’m happy that I did. I remember my family telling me to slow down, and finish one before starting another, but how could I ?. Sometimes I would get eight poems coming to me all in one go. I welcomed all the inspiration that I was getting, How can you stop Inspiration flowing?, and why would I want to stop something great happening to me.
It has only been two years since I accepted myself as a writer, turned author. Sometimes in life we have to go through certain situations, changes, and loss, to discover ourselves. The first poem which I wrote was called Four Seasons, and was dedicated to my beloved father, who sadly passed away in February 2002. Well, I never wrote another poem again, until 2009, when I wrote Little Girl, and This Is Me. I was going through another big change in my life at the time, and that’s when these two poems came to mind. I now see them as a signature in my life. Well I have finally accepted the gift of writing, and so proud to say I am a published author.
I would also like to acknowledge my dear friend Dorothy, who was like a mother to me, she sadly passed away in April 2011. I have dedicated a place to her, in my book, Soul Searching From The Heart, with a poem, that I wrote especially for my friend.
I was asked by the family to read a poem, at Dorothy’s funeral, well I had so many others which I could have easily read, but I wanted to write one, especially for my friend, so I did. I wrote a poem called Remember Me, which is in this book, and dedicated to a great lady, who helped so many people. She was loved and respected by so many, I still remember her with a smile on my face.
Lilac, Pinks, and Silks, is a poem which I was inspired to write, because of my daughter. This poem is about rights of passage, a young girl turned teenager.
When my daughter was eight years old, I decorated her room, fit for a princess, with lilacs, pinks, silks, frills, and bows, which she once adored, but has now outgrown at the
