About this ebook
Avryl Fuchs
Avryl married at a young age, has three children and seven grandchildren, and has always been a total workaholic in whatever she put her mind to, whether it be the bringing up of her children, her very sincere interest in metaphysics, her spiritual beliefs, or her work. With eurhythmics and remedial teaching as a background, she worked in the school section of a home for the mentally and physically disabled for about ten years, and only when her husband’s illness was severe was she forced to leave because she had now become the breadwinner . Avryl also acted in a number of stage shows, usually as a cameo and mostly comedy, a relief from the difficult work in her day-to-day activities. All this served her well in the real estate industry with her knowledge of property law, her dedication, empathy, good humour, and an astute knowledge and understanding of human behaviour; and with an excellent memory for detail, this book has come about. She had taken particular care to, at no time throughout the writing of the book, use any names, places, or addresses and that it should not cause embarrassment to anyone as she was very well known in the real estate industry in Johannesburg, South Africa.

FOREWORD
Y es Sir, I’ll Jump… How High
is a delightful, informative and unforgettable read.
Avryl Fuchs, the author, takes the reader on a journey, travelling through the pages of an industry that can be most rewarding but certainly challenging.
The crystallization of her years of interaction in the area of real estate, led her to record a sincere account of what the ordinary citizen does not hear about. For those of you who are and were fortunate enough to meet the author, her integrity, sincerity and wonderful sense of humour are the hall marks of her character. This book has an International flavour and wide audience.
In my early years, the years that shape an individual, I was raised spending every Saturday afternoon pegging
land in Durban. My late father was a real estate agent and taught me the value of owning one’s own piece of earth
I have a deep appreciation for the patience and resilience of the agents in this sector. Historically, South Africa has changed, but what has not changed are the daily trials and triumphs of this industry. In the same manner that one imagines Gandhi perched on one’s shoulder, reading you his autobiography, the book at hand is straight from the heart of Avryl.
May the book find a place in the hearts of all home owners.

INTRODUCTION
H ow often one hears an Estate Agent saying she can write a book on all her experiences in house sales
– well now retired after nearly 30 years of being in the industry, I have decided to write about the many interesting, entertaining and oft times unpleasant anecdotes I have experienced – and real truths about the industry, which will be helpful to aspiring agents, a good laugh to the old timers and a different view to both sellers and buyers. My years in the industry were spent working on all the ‘upmarket homes’ of the sometimes ‘rich and famous, and oft times the ‘infamous’ and as so often happens where there is big money there are big mischiefs too.
