Rosie L. Bryant
Rosie Bryant, a North Carolina native, left home in 1969 and returned 39-years later to care for her aging father. During those 39-years she worked for the federal government and had a successful 20-year career in the military. She began writing poetry in 2001 when rhyming words began to come into her mind. Ten years later, her first book, “If the shoe fit, don’t blame me” was published. Convinced that a dream had become a reality, she put pen, paper and computer down and was sure this was the end of her writing. Shortly after notifying the publisher to send the manuscript to the printer, she began to relive year 2001 again when words began to come into her mind. Determined that a second book would not take 10-years to publish, she immediately began writing what she heard in her head. “The ocean never sleeps” along with the corresponding poetic story was actually written while walking along the shore at the ocean with a pen and pad in hand. As the words continued to flow in her mind, she secured a spot on the pier and finished writing the story. Rosie enjoys crossword puzzles, and working out at her local gym. She reads something every day; a newspaper, book, or magazine. She believes adamantly that as long as we live there is always something new to be learned.

A personal quote
Trouble was not meant to last always;
on the other side of trouble is deliverance.
Dedicated to my dad, Jesse A. Bryant,
an excellent orator and writer who has been
a major source of inspiration to me.
Dedicated to KaTanya, my song bird; without
hesitation, you encouraged me to continue to
write. Thank you for believing in me.
Don’t be a dream killer; applaud and

The ocean never sleeps
To me
The ocean is a wonderful
Place to be.
I recently spent
An afternoon there
To listen to and enjoy the calming
Sound of the ocean waves.
I sat upon the pier
And watched
Each wave come ashore—
It was as if the ocean
Was talking to me
Saying, I never sleep.
picture%231.jpgThere are times when I might be calm,
but it’s not enough to put me to sleep
because, I Ocean never sleep.
As I sat there
The wind from the ocean
Blew in its attempt
To pull my scarf
Off my head
And I realized
The Ocean doesn’t sleep!
As I continued to sit there—
I became aware
Of different species of birds
Flying overhead.
Every now and then
They would dip their wings
Toward the waves
As if to say, Hello Ocean.
I see you down there.
picture%232.jpgThe longer I sat there
the more it appeared to me,
the Ocean was actually talking to me
Saying, MY BELOVED, I never sleep.
The longer I sat
The more I heard it speak;
Saying,
I roll, I tumble
I lift up the waves
And let them
