About this ebook
This short story is to help people who suffer from insomnia. It is based on scientific research that focuses on the effects of colored light on the human body.
My idea for the story first emerged when I was taking a psychology elective at Columbia University. I was studying full time at Pratt Institute where I tried to connect the theory of emotions with different properties of colors that we studied. In other words, I was trying to piece together different ideas that fit together, but not with the purpose of making any scientific claims of my own. Although my fantastical story is inspired by scientific theories I did not write it with the intention of connecting different scientific theories, because the two theories are each independent and not connected together in any way, the first dealing with emotions and the latter dealing with effects of colored light on melatonin.
The plot of the short story is fantastical but it can be interpreted in a realistic way. When a little girl can't sleep, her brother suffers from it. Together the siblings discover mysterious phenomena; metaphors for real-world problems.

I was born in Moscow in 1989. My art career started when I began attending art school, which was in the evenings following normal school. I really loved going to my after school art school. It was beautiful; the walls were a mosaic and there was a mosaic fountain. I loved art history class where we learned about Pompey, the Pantheon and Russian folk art.My grandparents were biologists; they taught me about evolution and animal behavior. I started reading astronomy books about different types of stars and about black holes. It was then that I realized that something needs to be done to protect our planet from danger and also to take away the fear that we feel of uncertainty. In the year 2000 my mother, brother and I moved with my dad to the United States. After the move I was attending a Ukrainian middle school where I was fortunate to learn about Ukrainian national costumes and coloring easter eggs.I was lucky to attend Millburn Township Highschool because it is a wonderful community. I want to thank the school and teachers for teaching me to write and for letting me doodle during class. Lastly I want to thank all my professors at Pratt Institute and other colleges where I studied.

A short statured man looked through the opening
He opened the door and a young man entered
You didn’t pay the electric bill for the last three months
The short statured man looked down and closed the door
Then he looked through the crack
The young man was still standing there.
We will be broke if the electric bill keeps getting more expensive
Tina are you sleeping?
Nope, been up all night
What were you thinking girl, we can’t afford tp use so much electricity
A yellow animal sat in a small bed and curled up to sleep
The lights dimmed and died as soon as it fell asleep.
Good night dad
It became dark in the village only the glowing water and constellations were visible.
Wake up Tina. We have 10 minutes to get ready.
