Annabelle CHANGES HER MIND
Laura spotted her granddaughter running across the school playground. As usual Scarlett was carrying her coat, despite the freezing afternoon. Her normally bright little face was dark with indignation. Whatever could have happened? Laura didn’t have to wait long to find out.
‘Gran, Mrs Leonard told us that we’re doing a project about Antarctica, so I said that you had been there. She said maybe you could show us some of your photographs.’
‘Of course, that’s fine darling. I’ll sort some out tonight for you to take in.’
Laura glanced again at Scarlett, ‘But why the angry face?’
‘Well, you know Annabelle Jackson?’
Laura nodded, smiling to herself. Annabelle Jackson was Scarlett’s sworn enemy. Laura thought she sounded rather a bossy child and could see why the two girls didn’t get on. Scarlett wasn’t one to be told what to do by another 10-year-old. She listened as Scarlett relayed all the details of their latest skirmish.
