This is a true story of deglovement,
amputation of the back of the head.
Deeper than a scalping and the man who survived to testify.
DEDICATION

SOMETHING HAPPENED
January the weather was breezy and cool. It was yet another day at work. But this particular day was very special (in more ways than anyone could have ever imagine) My husband and I moved to Kentucky from Oklahoma in October of 1999. We did all we could do for everyone there. So we decided to make a new life for ourselves.
After about 3 yrs in the factories we were on 1st shift. We worked in separate factories. I was a light machine operator making medical supplies, my husband was a machinist. We made really good money and we saved most of it. We worked hard and traveled. We were enjoying life. Things were going well for us.
We had been looking at several properties for quite some time. Than came the day when we had indeed found a house. We were ready! All of our belongings were paid off so we could spend our time and energy on our new home. We had our down payment saved and all the paper work was in order. January 14 2002 was the date set to plant our new roots.
One can imagine how we had struggled with the hrs of an industrial factory, looking for a house and keeping a relationship going. But David and I were best friends. We were always on the same page. Like anyone else trying to live the American dream. At that time we truly did think we were invincible. We were educated in love had all the same dreams and interest.
We started the day out with excitement after work we planned to meet at the bank and sign for our new home. David left the house just minutes before I and as usual we told each other I love you. See you at the bank!
I had only been at work for about 2 hrs. Earlier that week I had taken a mechanical test to bid on another position with higher pay within the factory. I had passed and was waiting on an offer to be made. My mind was really engrossed with getting the day over at work so David and I could finally make our dream a reality.
I was on my 1st break outside enjoying the cool weather. It was about 9:10 am I had heard my name being paged on the intercom, I was to call an extension line. So I called, waiting and expecting to here about the position I had applied for. To my surprise it was the guard shake, I thought I must have dialed the wrong extension.
At that moment I heard a voice telling me to go to Bowling Green Green view Medical Center my husband had been involved in an industrial accident. At that time all I was told was SOMETHING HAPPENED. I had no clue where this hospital was. So a co-worker took me.

When I arrived at the ER there were many people looking for me. There is no way for any human being to have been mentally prepared for what I was about to walk into as I entered the ER. I still had no clue as to what had happened. As I was standing there I was scanning the room full of beds looking for my husband.
My eyes fixed on something wrapped in a plastic bag laying in a bucket full of ice next to me, I thought to myself looks like a huge dead animal turned inside out. Than I heard a voice asking a patient if he was right with the lord? As I started to comprehend the situation an inconceivable realization took over. I walked over to a man with his head wrapped in countless inches of pads and gauze.
All I could see was his face. As I looked I seen my
