 Vanessa Villacian-Pages is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been in private practice since 2002 in South Florida. She completed her undergraduate work at Duke University and received her Masters and Doctorate Degree in Miami. She is extremely passionate about helping others and her vision is to assist individuals in achieving their utmost potential in life, self-actualization.  She has worked with children, adults, couples and families in her private practice.  She has facilitated groups for pregnant women who may be undergoing emotional issues as well as groups for post-partum depression.  She implements spirituality in her theoretical orientation and clinical intervention with her patients. She is a certified hypnotherapist as well.  Her areas of specialty include:  Relationship issues, depression, women''s issues and substance abuse.  Dr. Villacian-Pages also launched the program entitled Success Psychology which promotes increased patient motivation in all of the facets of their lives in order for them to accomplish all of their goals.

This book is dedicated to my supportive parents, loving husband and daughter Nadia Angelique. May this book be a guide for all who read it.

In the beginning, God created the heaven and earth. And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters

(Genesis 1:1-2).  

This is how it all begins. We must see that there is a distinction between the light and the dark from the beginning. God represents the Light. The Dark is the absence of the Light, or the void.  

And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he formed (Genesis 2: 8). And later he created the woman from the man. And the two sinned by eating from the fig tree. 

So, since the beginning man and woman sinned as soon as it was a choice. Why did Adam and Eve choose to sin? What prompted or tempted them? Curiosity? A need for Power? Control? Adam and Eve sin and choose the darkness instead of following God’s Light. At that moment, the precise moment that they chose to sin, they betrayed God’s Light. And at that very moment, their purpose was defined as Darkness.  

We can look to Adam and Eve’s decision when we contemplate our own purpose in life. Is our purpose Light or Dark? Love or Hate? Forgiveness or Revenge? Faith or Fear? These are the questions we must ask ourselves in order to begin to determine the purpose of our lives. We must first seek to find our truth. We must find the courage within ourselves to embrace our truth. There is only One truth which lies inside each one of us. But no one can tell you what it is other than yourself. Via a process of exploration, you will be able to begin to find your purpose. So, let us now begin the journey home. 

You were born. You came into the world, which is Light. You came from your mother’s womb, which was warm and safe yet it was Dark there. You then cried once you were outside of the womb because fear of the unknown surrounded you and it was cold. You began to experience love when you were placed in the arms of your mother. Again, you experienced warmth and felt nurtured.
