45 Yummy Pressure Cooker Recipes - Jennifer Harley

    Gravy

    Introduction

A pressure cooker is a cooking utensil that utilizes low temperature cooking methods and cutting out the vigilance needed while cooking. It is also contrasts other cooking methods by using pressure to reduce the heat required to raise the temperature of the food to boiling point and can be used for making stews, pot dishes, bubbled meals and many more. There are a wide range of items and recipes that can be prepared using this pressure cooking technique.

The main advantage of a pressure cooker is that it reduces the boiling temperature of water with its high pressure thereby cooking the food faster. These foods often have more nutritional values than the normal cooked food. The contents are generally heated at a constant temperature of 175–200⁰ Fahrenheit. This vaporizes the water inside which then condenses on the inner wall of the lid and gets back into the food. Through this method, heat is transferred from the very core to the outer edges of the container thereby dispersing the flavor throughout and helping in uniform cooking all over. Some water soluble vitamins are also leached into the contents by this process.

How To Prepare A Pressure Cooker Recipe?

To avoid making a sticky appearance, the mixture of flours/corn-flours and water can be added towards the end and simmered vigorously till it thickens.

The vegetables can be blended separately to make a gravy if you don’t want them to turn a bit
