~ Jenkins Receives SCPRA Award ~

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (September 28, 2011) – The South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association recently recognized Cambridge Jenkins, III with the 2011 Citizen/Lay Volunteer Award. The SCPRA presents several awards each year to recognize agencies, organizations, and individuals for outstanding contributions to the park and recreation profession in South Carolina.

Cambridge has volunteered at the Thomasena Stokes-Marshall Senior Center since 2008, said Senior Center Manager Chuck DeLorme. He volunteers between four and ten hours to the center daily, Monday through Saturday. He meets and greets our patrons, provides guided tours of the facility, and conducts orientations to the exercise room. Cambridge is known for his caring and cheerful outlook and dedication to the Senior Center. He truly exemplifies the best there is about volunteerism.

Mr. Jenkins is a former recipient of the 2009 Mount Pleasant Rotary Club Vocational Service Award. He has also served in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for the Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross.
